The PE team has been awarded a Gold in the School games. This is a prestigious honour for the Physical Education team, highlighting the school's commitment to Physical Education and sport. The report highlighted the team's extracurricular programme and the opportunities provided to all pupils at the school.This is the first time the school has achieved the School Games Gold mark as reconsigned by Sport England, Youth Sport Trust and the dependent for Health and Sport.
The Year 7 Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy football team has made a fantastic start to their season, remaining undefeated in their first three games and scoring over 20 goals in the process. This impressive performance has propelled them to the top of the league table.
The team's unbeaten streak is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and tactical awareness. As the season progresses, the team will undoubtedly face tougher challenges. However, their strong start provides a solid foundation for continued success. With continued hard work and a positive attitude, the Year 7 Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy football team can achieve great things this season.
Our Year 7 and 8 girls football team played against Saint George's in the District Cup this module. Unfortunately they didn't win this time around, but played some good football at times and demonstrated a great work ethic and team spirit throughout.
Year 13 BTEC Sport - University Trip
Our Year 13 BTEC Sport students spent a day visiting the University of Kent and Canterbury Christchurch University to get lots of information about their sports courses and take part in some practical sessions linked to physiotherapy and sports analysis.

The District Cross Country Championships
The District cross country championships was hosted at the Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy this November and our runners produced some excellent performances. 16 of our runners qualified for the District team to compete in the Kent Schools event in January and 3 of our athletes, Amily, Samuel and Sophie won their respective races to become District champions.

On the 6th December, we took ten Year 7 students from Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy to Medway Park to participate in a team building day working on communication, confidence, risk taking and thinking skills.
The students worked on a variety of activities including the ski walk and hover ball. All students made new friends and walked away confident with their new skills. Year 7 students quoted ‘I was able to make new friends and help year 6 students be more confident with themselves and approaching secondary school’.

The gymnastics team entered two boys teams in the U16s trio boys South East Finals. Both teams performed well and finished first and second. This means the gymnastics will move on to the BSGA (British Schools Gymnastic Association) national finals held in March. This is the third year in a row the team have qualified for the national finals.
The Year 9 team had their first win of the season with some great performances against Thamesview where they won 7-2 and a thrilling draw against Leigh UTC 3-3. They have managed an undefeated start to the football season.
The Year 8 football team won their first two matches against Longfield and Leigh UTC in the defence of their district title which they won last year.
Cobham Hall Cross Country
The Year 7 and 8 cross country teams were invited to attend the cross country competition held in the amazing grounds of Cobham Hall school. Many school across the county took part in the event. The two teams performed well in cold conditions with many thrilling sprint finishes.
