Welcome
It has been a wonderful beginning to the new academic year in Shakespeare College. Our new Year 7s have hit the ground running and settled well into the academy routines. They are confident and eager to learn which is surely a recipe for the very best outcomes!
Our Year 11s have come back after the summer break with renewed enthusiasm for learning, especially as they have had their mock examinations in Module 2. We wish everyone the most successful year ever, in Shakespeare.
Shakespeare Module 1 League of Excellence
As always, it is a pleasure to celebrate the successes of the students in Shakespeare College and this Module has been no exception. Our rewards assembly was filled with happy students who received their certificates for a variety of reasons, such as accumulating the highest number of reward points, literacy points and also for 100% attendance.

Remembrance Day - Lest we forget
On Monday 11th November, Shakespeare College students took part in the annual Sir Geoffrey Leigh Remembrance Service, as a reminder of the sacrifices others have made in order that we have peace, and freedom. At 11.00am, all students demonstrated their respect of our fallen heroes and stood in silence for two minutes.
This is always a moving event as we are reminded of the lives lost, so that we can live ours.
The ceremony was led by Ms Maxwell (Head of Shakespeare College) and Mr Brewer (Head of Seacole College). We were also joined by Harry Chapman, a retired serviceman and member of the Royal British Legion. Additionally, one of our year 7 tutors Mrs Thomas read a beautiful and moving poem.
Wreaths were laid by Mr Chapman, plus Shakespeare student Emmanuel (Year 11) , who had the honour of being chosen from all the students in Shakespeare College, Mr Simpson, Director of Learning for Humanities and students from Seacole College.
As leaders of Shakespeare College, we are always so proud of how our students demonstrate such respect during this inspirational event.

Shakespeare Superstar
Congratulations to one of our own, Ben!
We are all incredibly proud of Ben, who has been selected to represent England in the sport of Ice Hockey. Now, we know very little about the sport, but the padding and helmet suggest that it isn't a walk in the park - literally!
Ice hockey isn't exactly a non-contact sport, so you've got to be tough to play. To be fair, standing upright on ice is not something we count as one of our skills and we are in awe that Ben can not only stand up, but can move like the wind, whilst carrying a stick AND guiding a puck into the opposition's goal!
Who knew that we had such talented students in Shakespeare College?!
Pantomime at the Orchard Theatre
Shakespeare students had a wonderful visit to Orchard Theatre to see "Sleeping Beauty", starring Sydney Christmas. Students from across all year groups were invited to attend by the Theatre and made the most of the traditional 'oh no he isn't, oh yes he is!' moments as a very enthusiastic audience. Both students and staff had a fun-filled afternoon together, and the students were amazing ambassadors for the academy.
