Our Year 7s have started to prepare for the Spelling Bee, kindy supported by two of our finalists from last academic year, Bryan and Ornella.
They have already made an impressive start and show great promise.
This will be the first year when Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy will compete against another school in the Trust.
Year 7s, 8s and 9s have completed their first speaking assessment in lesson. We were very impressed with their confidence, their quality of language and their readiness. There will be another one in Module 6, as part of the LAT Trust Assessment.
Year 10s have settled well and many have already demonstrated good progress in French or Spanish.
In order to prepare them best for the four Examinations in Year 11, they have sat a Speaking Mock, in lesson, to understand what the process will be like. This is a particularly difficult challenge, yet necessary, to build our students' confidence when they sit their first set of Mock Examinations in Module 6 this academic year, and in Module 2 when they are in Year 11.
