The Duke of Edinburgh award continues to grow here at Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy with our numbers increasing to around 100 students for this coming 2024/25 season across the 3 levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
We are all very much looking forward to the 2024/25 season with the highest number of students undertaking Bronze this year and a new Assistant DofE Manager in place in Miss Stroud and Ms Marshall taking over as our Award verifier.
We had our third Duke of Edinburgh presentation evening on Wednesday 20th November 2024 with over 100 people in attendance to see our amazing 11 Silvers and 28 Bronze students collecting their certificates and badges. The evening was full of students sharing their experiences and achievements through the different sections of the award in volunteering, physical, skills and the expedition.
Everyone had a wonderful evening and many photos were taken by very proud parents.
Exciting news to end with as we develop the Gold award at Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy and we are aiming to secure our expedition on the Battlefields of The Somme, following in the footsteps of the WW1 soldiers. There will be more to follow on this exciting news.
