Welcome
The start of this academic year has been fantastically busy, with a wealth of events and opportunities for our students to engage in; literacy events, and cultural and sporting opportunities as well. It has been really heartening to see how well our Year 7 tutor groups have settled into life at Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy.
It was lovely to meet a number of parents across Years 7, 10 and 11 face to face, at our information and parent evenings. In Module 2, we had our service of Remembrance, and have celebrated the Module 1 successes of our Mandela students with our League of Excellence and reward assemblies.

Mandela College Visit to the Pantomime
We had a wonderful visit to Orchard West with a group of 40 students from across all five year groups to see "Sleeping Beauty", starring Sydney Christmas. The students and staff had a wonderful afternoon together, and the students were wonderful ambassadors for the academy.
Celebrating Mandela successes beyond the academy
We continue to enjoy celebrating the successes of our students outside of the academy as well. Congratulations must go to Samuel and Amily for their wins in the junior boys and junior girls Dartford district cross country championships. We look forward to seeing how they perform at the Kent Schools' cross country championships in January.
Lucian (Year 8) and Braeden (Year 7), participated in local Remembrance activities. Lucian was honoured to be asked to mark the start of the 2-minute silence for a Remembrance event held at the Crayford War Memorial, hosted by the Royal British Legion and St Paulinus Church. Lucian wore his grandfather's firefighter hat with great pride. Braeden hosted the Royal British Legion poppy stand in Sainsburys in Crayford.
