Scatch is a very versatile coding tool. We will be using it this year for a variety of projects. Like Beetle Blocks, it a block-based code, but it offers us much more control. For Scratch, we will want to create an account so we can save our work.
Go to Scratch.
Choose the "Join Scratch" option from the top of the page.
You will need to make up a username. Do not use your real name. Write this name down someplace safe.
You will also need to create a password. Do not use your school password. Write this down someplace safe.
I will not have a copy of your username and passwords if you forget them, I cannot help you.
Press "Next"
Then select United States of America from the country list.
Press "Next"
Then select a date for your birthday. Choose a different month but your real year. Scratch is a very cool, free program and they need data on how old their users are.
Press "Next".
Choose which ever gender option you feel comfortable with. It's fine to choose "prefer not to say".
Press "Next".
Type in your Brandeis email.
Press "Create Your Account".
Then click on "Get Started".
To begin a project, click on "Create" at the top of the page.
The project we are starting with is Project #1 - My World. Please use the drop down menu at the top of the page to find the instructions for this first lesson.
