Lesson 4 - Designing your playfield

Today we'll focus our attention on planning out the elements your ball will interact with on the playfield - this includes bumpers, ramps, tunnels, and other obstacles. Plan this out on the first page of the packet you were given if you are thinking you want to follow my templates. I've tested this size and it works well. You can test the marble on the page to page sure it fits around the objects you are sketching. An image of the page is below and you can download it if you need to print another copy.

As you work on planning out your design, think about making sure that the ball has enough space to move around and enough obstacles to make the game interesting. Think about how you will incorporate your theme into your design.

As always, begin your planning in pencil.

Then go ahead and color it in. Remember to use a similar color/design scheme to what you did for your backbox last week.

Today's Tasks:

• Plan out your playfield design in pencil first. You may want to label some items.

• Then add color to your design. We should really be able to see what you want your machine to look like. Remember you want the machine to be one cohesive unit so you should use the same colors on the playfield that you did on your backbox.
