This semester we will be studying the power of puppets with a particular focus on Jim Henson's Muppets. We'll look at the life and art of Mr. Henson and the upcoming CJM exhibit of his work. We will do a deep dive into some of the main puppets, studying their construction, personalities, and operation and create our own signature puppet that reflects a part of ourselves, inspired by the Kermit the Frog/ Jim Henson relationship.
We'll tour Henson exhibit as curated in NYC with Muppet super-fan Adam Savage.
What contributions did Jim Henson make to TV and puppetry?
How did Kermit the Frog evolve over time?
What surprised you?
What questions do you have?
You'll be assigned a specific Muppet to study as we watch The Muppet Movie.

Let's look at how Muppets & puppets are constructed and begin constructing our own.

Read the descriptions and "We do", "We don't", "We say"
Act out a "We do" or "We say" example.
Goals:
Relay information
Entertain
Show the unique presonality and voice of your puppet.
Have your script edited by Mrs. Bisson, film it, edit it, and upload it to your GoogleDrive and share it with Mrs. Bisson
In our modern times, animated versions of puppet characters often live side-by-side with their fabric versions. Use scratch to create and animate a 2D take on your character.
