Part 3- Define the Challenge
Now that we have a gathered info and processed that info what is our specific challenge? What are we setting out to solve/make/do?
Now it's time to think about the machine you will create. Here is your challenge:
Here are some additional creative constraints:
You have been assigned a cubby. At no time can your machine excede the storage capacity of your cubby. I
Your machine must have all the expected pinball components: playfield, backbox, flippers, ball launch, and obstacles.
You must have a scoring mechanism.
You must have a light element.
You must have music.
Your pinball machine needs to have a cohesive them that celebrates a group, individual, or theme previously marginalized or disrespected by the pinball industry.
Your theme needs to be brought to life through artistry, color, and sound.
You need to have mechanical and electrical elements to your pinball machine.
A minimum of two elements must be powered by your Micro:bit.
Sketch design for overall machine
Build out main box structure
Paint/ color main box structure (hard to paint once you start adding things)
design and build core mechanical elements (flippers & ball launch)
Test core mechanical elements
Build out back board
Design/illustrate backboard
code digital elements
install/wire digital elements
test digital elements
add obstacles
add scoring structures
make final mechanical and digital improvements
finalize design elements
