Lesson 4 - Pattern Making

Today we'll make pattern, paper guides of the pieces we will later cut out of fabric. We want to make the main pieces first. These are usually the head and body. Details like ears, tails, legs, etc. can usually be added after.

We want to be sure these main pieces are big enough to be stuff and allow us to attach the light-up elements we'll need. You each have one 8.5x11 piece of felt to make these pieces from. You will need 2 pieces each for your head and body - one for the front and one for the back. Because of this, it makes sense to fold a piece of paper in 1/2 and create your pattern like that. Design in pencil first and then trace the final outline in black marker.

You'll want these 2 parts to take up most of the page, if they are too small that won't work out for this project.
