Skyline College Barbering, Cosmetology & Esthetics Program

Cosmotology

Cosmotology programs usually teach hair cutting/styling, skin, nail, and makeup. These programs can be an intense program where you must take a test to get your license.

Related jobs pathways that require less bookwork and more on-the-job training includes - working a beauty counter at a department store, working at a speciality store like Sephora or Ulta,  entry level employment at a beauty salon (answering phones, sweeping and merchandise stock), volunteering or working at a live theatre in the costume dept.

Instruction in this program focuses mostly on hair. Instruction for skin, nails and makeup are only a small part of this program.
