Wednesday, November 1 - JOBS FOR YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP (aka "JFY") APPLICATION OPENS!!! for ANY students aged 16-21 who plans to continue to higher education (college or vocational school). They will award 20 youth EACH $2000. START EARLY!!! Application is due January 29, 2024 and time goes by FAST!!! Students with IEPs can also submit an alternative application...reach out to your teacher or transition specialist to help find out more. General information click here.

Seniors planning to start college in 2024
Apply for a chance to attend college for FREE!!!
December 2023 - Financial Aid applications (aka "FAFSA") are open to fill out for students attending college during the 2024-2025 school year.
April 2024 - Last day to apply for an opportunity to recieve grants for all colleges (money you don't have to pay back).
September 2, 2023 - If you miss the Mar 2 deadline and you are going to community college, this is the last day for a chance to receive California grants for community college (including the Promise Grant).
What you need to know:
FAFSA is the financial aid application for most students
California Dream Act Application is the financial aid application for those eligible for the Dream act.
Go to your school's college and career center often to find out about workshops (English and Spanish) that you can attend with your parents to complete the application.
Find other Financial Aid Workshops in your area at the Cash4College website here.
This means FREE MONEY FOR COLLEGE!!!!!

October National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)
Please support businesses that support students with disabilities by doing the following:
If your parent owns a business, please make them aware of this and encourage them to put up a poster (click on the images for printables) or contact your transition specialist for ways to include individuals with disabilities in their workforce.
Please patronize the businesses or donate to the non-profit agencies that employ our students through the district's work Training program:

Your Transition Services Staff help plan this event every year! Click on the logo on the left to visit this website - It has the best information about local resources. Visit the site often to get the latest on their annual Transition Fair held every October.
October 2020's Fair was virtual! You can still visit the website's virtual vendor room and virtual panel room (tabs on the website) to learn more about local supports and post-high school issues that might be concerning students and parents.
In 2021 - We hosted small workshops throughout the year. Visit the website to find videos for those presentations.

Hear a presentation by Housing Choices to learn about Independent Living Options for Adult Individuals with Disabilities.
The Second half of the presentation are actual young people talk about their experiences with living on their own and how the Housing Choices programs have helped them.
Question and Answer follows the panel presentations.
