Sprouts Chef Training Internship

What is it?
Hands-on culinary training for students in their final year of high school, or who are participating in flexible schedule school programs (such as Satellite, TRACE, Independent Study).
Where is it?
Training will occur at Stanford University kitchens
How Long is it?
8 weeks (total 96 hours)
When are the shifts?
Stanford is very flexible with time as they are generally open 7 days a week from 9 am-7 pm (i.e. we can schedule morning, daytime, and late afternoon shifts)

No experience in the restaurant industry is required.
To join our program you must:
Be 16-24 years old
Have the desire to:
Become a chef OR work a culinary job to pay for your next step in life
Have a working knowledge of English (Intermediate ACTFL level)
Be willing to devote 12 hours MINIMUM per week to Sprouts
For a duration of 8 weeks (96 total hours)
Live in the Bay Area in stable housing
Have access to transportation
The ideal candidate:
Has passion for food and cooking
Demonstrates enthusiasm, teamwork, focus and vision

Youth at Sprouts are paired with a chef mentor and wraparound program to develop the vocational skills needed to secure and maintain a culinary job. Graduates use these entry-level jobs to kickstart culinary careers, pay for education, or pursue new industries.

Application Process:
Youth and young adults apply to the internship program online
Applicants schedule a 30-minute behavioral interview via Google Meet with a member of the Chef Training team
Qualified candidates are scheduled for a 4-hour trial shift with a prospective restaurant
After mutual fit is determined, qualified candidates are offered an internship
