3/10 Week Seven: Everything Memory

“Self-care is not selfish, it’s necessary for good mental health.”

Hello Lifelong Learners,

As we continue our journey together, we have an important event lined up that we'd like to remind you about.

Mental Health Webinar:

We understand that mental health is vital to overall well-being, especially as we navigate the different stages of life. We are excited to bring you a Mental Health Webinar in collaboration with Be Well. The webinar will introduce various community and institutional resources available to support those in need.

Date: Friday, March 15

Time: 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Zoom Link: https://sdccd-edu.zoom.us/j/89222352523

For more details, you can refer to the attached flyer.

We talked about the matter of our brain and its importance in processing speed - white and grey matter! And the grey matter is where the brain processes incoming information because it's packed with neuronal cell bodies and "tree branch-like" dendrites.  White matter contains myelinated axons that protect the speed at which the information is interpreted in different lobes of the brain.  We also learned about risk factors and other age-related conditions that can impede neuron-to-neuron communication and thus, slow down brain speed processing. Most importantly we talked about ways to improve our brain speed.

Many students have great expectations for this class because they want to improve their memory. Well, be prepared to learn how we memorize, how we process information, where in the brain memories are created and retrieved, and ways to improve your memory.
