2/11 Week Three: Introduction to the brain

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And you are the guy who'll decide where to go." — Dr. Seuss

Dear Basics students,

As we enter Week 3 of our semester, we are thrilled to have you on board. We want to announce that BrainHQ should now be accessible to everyone in our class. Remember, your username is your personal email, and your password has been set to spring24. We are reminding you that the upcoming holidays are affecting our class schedule. There will be no classes this Friday, February 16th, in observance of Lincoln Day and Monday, February 19th, for Washington Day.

This Week (2/12 Week 3, Introduction to the brain)

This week, you will learn about our fantastic Brain. For example, its parts, how it transmits information, the neuron, the role of neurotransmitters, and how to keep it working and healthy. Understanding the brain basics will help us make sense of future lessons as we dig deeper.

Last Week (2/5 Week Two, Getting Started)

Last week, we reviewed the two websites for our class: the leading Brain Fitness website and our Basic class website. We also went over getting started on the brain-training exercise program BrainHQ. Yael dedicated the past two weeks to addressing any questions or concerns you may have and provided an overview of the class.

While BrainHQ may present challenges that can be frustrating, it is during these moments that we emphasize the importance of resilience. That's when resilience kicks in, embodying the central concept of our lesson—the ability to bounce back from adversity.

If you were unable to attend the session or would like to review, the Getting Started lesson is posted on our Brain Fitness Basics class website.
