O my God,
I love You above all things
with my whole heart and soul,
because you are all-good
and worthy of all love.
I love my neighbour as myself
for the love of You.
I forgive all who have injured me
and ask pardon
of all whom I have injured.
Amen
Thank you for joining us at the Summer Fair last week, if you were able to. Many thanks to FOSH and all of those parents, families and staff who gave up their time to help out with stalls, entertainment and refreshments, it is much appreciated! As a result of those collective efforts, £2669 was raised after costs were deducted - thank you for an amazing effort!
For the first three days of next week, we wish Year 6 and staff well as they travel to Skreens, near Chelmsford, for their annual residential trip. We hope that they remain safe as they enjoy fun, adventures and the opportunity to get to know each other even better than they do already! I'm looking forward to experiencing an 'over-nighter' on Monday as I supplement the staff numbers.
A reminder that next Friday is a collective training day for staff in the Assissi Trust so school will not be open for pupils. The teachers will be sharing and renewing our collective commitment to serve our community as we endeavour to follow the example of Jesus.
Today, Father Graham has blessed new prayer books for all of our children. These will travel with children through the school on their spiritual journey and each individual will carry this guidance with them (as a gift) when they leave the school.
As we look to grow our family of Sacred Heart staff, working together for the collective good of all pupils, you will find on the website vacancies for LSAs (Learning Support, 'Teaching Assistants') and MDAs (Mid Day Assistants, Lunchtime Supervisors).
God Bless and protect you all in the coming week.
Mr Beazeley
We are currently reviewing our snack provision at break time and would love to hear your thoughts. Please spend a couple of minutes answering our survey on this as we look to refresh our break time snack provision - Snack Survey Our current provision can be seen below.
It has been noted that pupils are bringing snacks that are not healthy choices and are large in portion size. Please ensure your child is bringing in a healthy snack each day. They should NOT have chocolate, cakes or crisps, although baked savoury snacks are acceptable.
We are a Healthy School and must ensure all children are following the guidelines. Snacks must also NOT contain nuts or any type of nutty spread like Nutella or praline etc. as we are a nut free school.

St John Bosco shared their class assembly today with us and shared the message of Jesus giving us the two most important commandments - love God and love your neighbour. The pupils reinforced this message through a clear explanation of our six school core values.
Year 3 have been studying the science of fossils and they were lucky enough to be visited by Mary Anning today who told them all about her 'curiosities' she had found, she even had a real one with her. After her visit they made their own clay fossil models.
As we start a new year we have been starting our journey with our new Religious Education scheme. All pupils are looking at Branch 1 which is creation and covenant. Pupils have been learning about how we are made in the image of God. (Work is examples from Year 3 & 6)
Year 5 visited Porters and got to meet the Mayor of Southend City. They got a tour of the house and to ask the Mayor questions.
Thank you to everyone that came along today to support the school fayre and to all the people that gave up their time to make it happen.
We have not made changes to our chargeable fees for some time at Sacred Heart, and we have even subsidised some charges for out of school clubs. However as everyone is aware costs have increased in recent years across the board.
Therefore, from September 2025 the following new charges will apply:
Dear Parents and Carers,
We wanted to send a reminder to all our families of the uniform requirements from September 2025. We would like to draw special attention to:
• Hair styles - must not be extreme
• Earrings - no earrings of any kind. If you wish to get your child's ears pierced, the must be done at the beginning of the holidays to allow sufficient time to heal before returning to school.
• Shoes - must be sensible and sturdy - no trainers
• Boots - only to be worn to and from school - need to change to shoes in school
Please read the attached document for full information on all uniform requirements.
There will be a PRE-LOVED UNIFORM EVENT at the beginning of September, so please look out for this.
We would also like to remind everyone that all items in school must be clearly labelled, and the school will not accept responsibility for lost items.
Please help us to be 'The smartest school in town' and support us in ensuring the children are wearing the correct uniform, are fully prepared and ready to learn.
Kind regards,
School Office.
In line with other schools we will be introducing a new policy where by any children not collected from school by 3.30pm will be placed in our after school tea club and a £6 fee will be applied to your School Money account.
We have seen an increase in the number of children not collected on time and we hope the new charges will ensure children are collected promptly.
Our Amazon Wishlist is live!! The idea is that friends and family of the school can donate directly to the school library. We’ll still accept preloved copies from home that you may also wish to donate. The selection of books are chosen by the staff as texts that may benefit the pupil's reading comprehension, engagement with the curriculum and foster an interest in reading. The current list is reflective of this and will update as and when donations come through. The link to our Wishlist is here.
A big thank you to those that have bought books for the school, we truly appreciate it.
PUPIL ABSENCE
When a child is off sick, a phone call must be made daily to record their absence. For sickness and diarrhea, the school has a 48 hours policy from the last episode before a child can return to school.
Any medical appointments need proof of the appointment for our records.
For any other absences a leave of absence form must be completed which can be obtained from the office.
LOST PROPERTY
Please can all parents check their child’s clothes - All items should be clearly labelled and your child needs to ensure they can identify their own property. Lost Property with no name is regualry sorted and either given to the pre-loved sale or taken to a local charity shop.
Thank you for your co-operation.
We would like to remind all our families using breakfast club of the importance of booking in advance. We have noticed an increase of children not booking in advance and this effects our staffing ratio.
All bookings must be made at the beginning of each week so we can ensure we have enough staff available. Priority will be given to children who have booked in advance and those who have not booked may not be able to stay.
If you need assistance making a booking please email annemariedriscoll@sacredheart.southend.sch.uk
