Dear God
I want to say thank you for giving me strength, power and guiding me wherever I am and wherever I go.
Your beautiful house will always be my home forever and ever.
Thank you for protecting me from harm and giving me power.
I will always turn to you, God, when I need you.
We give thanks to you. You are so good.
Amen
Aleksandra, Mary Mother of God class
Welcome back to you all after the Easter break. I hope that it was an enjoyable one for you and that you had the chance to create some lovely memories with your children, family and friends. Whilst the weather is still mixed - one of the blessings of living in England and the UK - it is generally getting warmer and the later evenings mean that our daily lives are certainly in the light for longer.
As you will be aware, it has been a special time this week in the life of the Catholic church: our joy and celebration at the time of Easter has been mixed with both sadness and thanks for the life and contribution of Pope Francis. As a leader of our church, he embodies the teachings of Jesus and was the leading, living example of how we should strive to love and support others in our daily lives. His loss will be felt in different ways by those in our community and we pray for him, as well as for the Cardnials who now have the job of appointing our next leader.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
And let perpetual light shine on him.
May he rest in peace.
Amen
Our jubilee Year of Hope continues this term and was marked by our Big Lent Walk before the break. It was a fantastic effort by everyone but we need one last big drive to reach our target. It's not too late to sponsor here at Just Giving
On a similar theme of charity and giving to others, I would like to thank the pupils and parents of Year 6 who donated to the Hungry Cupboard before Easter. A representative of St Vincent de Paul came to collect bagfuls of contributions earlier today. In the coming weeks, we will be seeing whether Year 5 can match their excellent effort!
Our constant mission to promote a Love of our World was the central theme on our first day back on Tuesday. World Earth Day fell on that day and, in combination with World Art Day from the Holy Week before, we began the term with a day full of creation and art. With many thanks to Mrs Robb and Mrs Charlick for their organisation, the whole school was engaged in 3-D art, including cardboard and clay sculpture, mainly focused on animals.
Let's hope that fun and creativity continues to be a big part of our Summer term, celebrating and promoting God's world and the wide range of the gifts and talents that we are blessed with.
God Bless
Mr Beazeley

In line with other schools we will be introducing a new policy where by any children not collected from school by 3.30pm will be placed in our after school tea club and a £6 fee will be applied to your School Money account.
We have seen an increase in the number of children not collected on time and we hope the new charges will ensure children are collected promptly.
We would like to say a huge thank you for everyone who supported the Easter Egg Raffle - we have raised over £675 which will be split between the RNLI and Southend Hospital. We will hopefully be inviting representatives in from these charities to receive their cheques so the children can see where the money has gone.
Our staff received training on Asthma recently. A slideshow showing the main points for parents is available on our website here
Our Amazon Wishlist is live!! The idea is that friends and family of the school can donate directly to the school library. We’ll still accept preloved copies from home that you may also wish to donate. The selection of books are chosen by the staff as texts that may benefit the pupil's reading comprehension, engagement with the curriculum and foster an interest in reading. The current list is reflective of this and will update as and when donations come through. The link to our Wishlist is here.
A big thank you to those that have bought books for the school, we truly appreciate it.
World Art Day
All pupils in KS1 and KS2 participated in a great assembly where everyone drew pictures and then worked on improving their skills of drawing. The rest of the day was spent creating art work from recycled cardboard. Keep an eye out soon for the art work being displayed in the Atrium.
Our Art Day was a huge success and pupils created 3D art with recycled cardboard and then followed by clay work. We will be creating a big display and we will share more photos soon.
Here are our stars of the week who have represented our core values well through their actions of responsibility, achievement, compassion, equality, faith and respect
PUPIL ABSENCE
When a child is off sick, a phone call must be made daily to record their absence. For sickness and diarrhea, the school has a 48 hours policy from the last episode before a child can return to school.
Any medical appointments need proof of the appointment for our records.
For any other absences a leave of absence form must be completed which can be obtained from the office.
SPARE SWIMMING KITS
We urgently need spare boys swimming trunks aged 10 and above for swimming lessons plus spare towels. If anyone has anything they could donate to the school we would be most grateful.
We are also short on spare underwear for older children. Any donations can be brought to the office. Thank you for your support
COAT REMINDER – Please remember as the weather is changing to make sure your child has a coat with them and that it is clearly labelled. It is much colder today and some children came in without coats on, and were complaining they were cold in the playground.
LOST PROPERTY
Please can all parents check their child’s clothes - All items should be clearly labelled and your child needs to ensure they can identify their own property. Staff are wasting too much time searching for children’s clothing and dealing with frustrated parents.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Dear Parents/Carers
Please ensure your child is bringing in a healthy snack each day. They should NOT have chocolate, cakes or crisps, although baked savoury snacks are acceptable.
We are a Healthy School and must ensure all children are following the guidelines. Snacks must also NOT contain nuts or any type of nutty spread like Nutella or praline etc. as we are a nut free school.
Thank you for your continued support with this matter.
We would like to remind all our families using breakfast club of the importance of booking in advance. We have noticed an increase of children not booking in advance and this effects our staffing ratio.
Breakfast club (£3 per session) runs from 7:30 until the start of school and includes a light breakfast and childcare.
We also run a tea club (£6 per session) from 3:15-5:30pm which includes a light tea and childcare - again all bookings must be booked and paid for in advance. Failure to pay will result in the child not being able to attend future sessions.
All bookings must be made at the beginning of each week so we can ensure we have enough staff available. Priority will be given to children who have booked in advance and those who have not booked may not be able to stay.
If you need assistance making a booking please email annemariedriscoll@sacredheart.southend.sch.uk
We would like to remind all our families that we are a nut free school to protect some of our pupils/staff and therefore request that no items of food containing nuts are brought in. We have noticed an increasing number of children bringing in snacks and spreads containing nuts ie cereal bars, chocolate spread etc. We hope you all understand the importance that some of our community have epi pens for their allergies and we need to ensure their safety at all times. Thank you for your co-operation.

Dear Parents/carers,
Thank you so much for attending the Spring ISP meetings with your child's class teachers. Your involvement and partnership in your child's education is deeply appreciated. If you haven't yet had the opportunity to book a meeting, it's not too late! We encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher to discuss the targets they will be working on next term. This is a wonderful way to support your child's learning and progress.
As a polite reminder, we have created a Learning Plan tailored to your child's needs and would greatly value your input. You can view and comment on the plan by visiting the following link: https://edukeyapp.com/parent/login. To access the plan, please use the code provided by your class teacher or contact our school SENCO, Mrs. White, for assistance in accessing it online.
Your feedback is important to us, and we look forward to your contributions, as we continue to work together to support your child's development.
Warm regards, Mrs White (SENCO)

'Your Family' has recently expanded their support services and are now working with families until their child starts secondary school. They are predominately working in the Early Help space, but also deliver a number of targeted interventions, including 121 to parents who are in drug and/or alcohol recovery and are seeking to improve their relationship with their children (regardless of whether they live with them or not), support for fathers and wrap around education and support to expectant parents who have previously had a child removed.
They also deliver a 6-day a week Information and Guidance service for local parents (and professionals), which includes 4 later evenings, family stay and play session throughout the week and on Saturdays, and 121 parenting support.
