O my God,
I love You above all things
with my whole heart and soul,
because you are all-good
and worthy of all love.
I love my neighbour as myself
for the love of You.
I forgive all who have injured me
and ask pardon
of all whom I have injured.
Amen
It was lovely meet some our new Reception parents in the church hall for today's coffee morning. Among other things, I suggested that it might be nice to invite parents in to see our lunchtimes later in the term.
In the much nearer future, we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our rearranged Summer Fayre on Sunday afternoon. Please do join us from 12 until 3.
This morning, more than 50 prospective Mini Vinnies met with the Reverend Richard Cerson who is based at St Peter's in Eastwood. Mini Vinnies are our pupil body who will be looking organise how we live out the Gospel values by coordinating action to support those in need in our school community, Southend and the wider world. Richard is an experienced MV leader and gave us lots of ideas for potential action - so look out for MV projects going forward!
Earlier in the week, we formally designated our pupil prefects in Year 6 and invited parents along to the slightly ceremonial assembly. Leading the way for all of the pupils of the school, we are sure that these children, along with the wider Year group, will be excellent role models and examples of Christian leadership.
I hope that you enjoy the weekend - including the Summer Fair - and the coming week.
God bless.
Mr Beazeley
We are currently reviewing our snack provision at break time and would love to hear your thoughts. Please spend a couple of minutes answering our survey on this as we look to refresh our break time snack provision - Snack Survey Our current provision can be seen below.
It has been noted that pupils are bringing snacks that are not healthy choices and are large in portion size. Please ensure your child is bringing in a healthy snack each day. They should NOT have chocolate, cakes or crisps, although baked savoury snacks are acceptable.
We are a Healthy School and must ensure all children are following the guidelines. Snacks must also NOT contain nuts or any type of nutty spread like Nutella or praline etc. as we are a nut free school.

Year 6 have been revising their knowledge of rounding.
Library trip - this week Year 4 visited The Forum Library in Southend. They learnt about the types of books the library has and where to find them. Then they did a book hunt looking for certain books in the library.
Year 1 had an exciting visit from Animal Encounters, who brought in a variety of animals for the children to learn about and touch. The children learnt about different types of animals, such as mammals and reptiles. They also learnt the terms 'carnivore', 'herbivore' and 'omnivore'. The children were really brave when touching the animals, including a skunk, a royal python and a giant cockroach!
Years 4 and 5 enjoyed an immersive experience in a mobile planetarium, which supported their science learning
Our Student Leadership Team for this academic year.
We have not made changes to our chargeable fees for some time at Sacred Heart, and we have even subsidised some charges for out of school clubs. However as everyone is aware costs have increased in recent years across the board.
Therefore, from September 2025 the following new charges will apply:
Dear Parents and Carers,
We wanted to send a reminder to all our families of the uniform requirements from September 2025. We would like to draw special attention to:
• Hair styles - must not be extreme
• Earrings - no earrings of any kind. If you wish to get your child's ears pierced, the must be done at the beginning of the holidays to allow sufficient time to heal before returning to school.
• Shoes - must be sensible and sturdy - no trainers
• Boots - only to be worn to and from school - need to change to shoes in school
Please read the attached document for full information on all uniform requirements.
There will be a PRE-LOVED UNIFORM EVENT at the beginning of September, so please look out for this.
We would also like to remind everyone that all items in school must be clearly labelled, and the school will not accept responsibility for lost items.
Please help us to be 'The smartest school in town' and support us in ensuring the children are wearing the correct uniform, are fully prepared and ready to learn.
Kind regards,
School Office.
In line with other schools we will be introducing a new policy where by any children not collected from school by 3.30pm will be placed in our after school tea club and a £6 fee will be applied to your School Money account.
We have seen an increase in the number of children not collected on time and we hope the new charges will ensure children are collected promptly.
Our Amazon Wishlist is live!! The idea is that friends and family of the school can donate directly to the school library. We’ll still accept preloved copies from home that you may also wish to donate. The selection of books are chosen by the staff as texts that may benefit the pupil's reading comprehension, engagement with the curriculum and foster an interest in reading. The current list is reflective of this and will update as and when donations come through. The link to our Wishlist is here.
A big thank you to those that have bought books for the school, we truly appreciate it.
PUPIL ABSENCE
When a child is off sick, a phone call must be made daily to record their absence. For sickness and diarrhea, the school has a 48 hours policy from the last episode before a child can return to school.
Any medical appointments need proof of the appointment for our records.
For any other absences a leave of absence form must be completed which can be obtained from the office.
LOST PROPERTY
Please can all parents check their child’s clothes - All items should be clearly labelled and your child needs to ensure they can identify their own property. Lost Property with no name is regualry sorted and either given to the pre-loved sale or taken to a local charity shop.
Thank you for your co-operation.
We would like to remind all our families using breakfast club of the importance of booking in advance. We have noticed an increase of children not booking in advance and this effects our staffing ratio.
All bookings must be made at the beginning of each week so we can ensure we have enough staff available. Priority will be given to children who have booked in advance and those who have not booked may not be able to stay.
If you need assistance making a booking please email annemariedriscoll@sacredheart.southend.sch.uk
