Dear lord,
Thank you for making everybody unique in their own way by others helping us creating unity.
Listening to John’s Gospel, we should never treat our friends in negative ways.
Thank you for giving us talents and qualities as we use these to inspire others with strength.
As we unite in God’s family, we say this in your name.
Amen
By Ariana and Ryan, St Joseph Class
Congratulations to Year 6 for getting through SATs this week and for all the hard work of children and adults leading up to it. They were rewarded in the usual way this morning with a trip to Southchurch for fun and games.
Before that, Father Graham joined us - as he usually does - for our Celebration Assembly, a time when we recognise achievements and those exemplifying the values of the school with our Stars of the Week. Today, he helped us to celebrate the Crowning of Mary in an appreciative recognition of our Queen of Heaven.
As Year 6 were departing for their reward, I was leaving for the seafront with our Mini Vinnie group of pupils. Supported by Mrs Horton, Mrs Velleman and Mr Gates (from our site team), we met up with around 200 others from our Catholic Trust schools to walk from The Pier to Chalkwell. This was part of the Pilgrims of Hope jubilee celebration of the church and showed our collective strength and faith as we made our own pilgrimage walk on, what has been, a beautiful day.
Enjoy your weekend!
Mr Beazeley

In line with other schools we will be introducing a new policy where by any children not collected from school by 3.30pm will be placed in our after school tea club and a £6 fee will be applied to your School Money account.
We have seen an increase in the number of children not collected on time and we hope the new charges will ensure children are collected promptly.
Our Amazon Wishlist is live!! The idea is that friends and family of the school can donate directly to the school library. We’ll still accept preloved copies from home that you may also wish to donate. The selection of books are chosen by the staff as texts that may benefit the pupil's reading comprehension, engagement with the curriculum and foster an interest in reading. The current list is reflective of this and will update as and when donations come through. The link to our Wishlist is here.
A big thank you to those that have bought books for the school, we truly appreciate it.
A MASSIVE WELL DONE to all our Year 6 pupils who have sat their SATs exams this week. They have been brilliant and worked so hard and achieved so much.
Year 1 made wind socks to determine the direction of the wind.
Year 4 visited the beach today as part of their art lessons to create still life drawings.
In Year 1, in Science, we have been exploring weather and seasons, including how shadows are formed. We have gone out and explored how shadows move according to where the sunlight is coming from and how they lengthen and shorten throughout the day. In Maths, the children have been learning what an array is, investigating 2s and exploring doubling.
Here are our stars of the week who have represented our core values well through their actions of responsibility, achievement, compassion, equality, faith and respect
PUPIL ABSENCE
When a child is off sick, a phone call must be made daily to record their absence. For sickness and diarrhea, the school has a 48 hours policy from the last episode before a child can return to school.
Any medical appointments need proof of the appointment for our records.
For any other absences a leave of absence form must be completed which can be obtained from the office.
SPARE SWIMMING KITS
We urgently need spare boys swimming trunks aged 10 and above for swimming lessons plus spare towels. If anyone has anything they could donate to the school we would be most grateful.
We are also short on spare underwear for older children. Any donations can be brought to the office. Thank you for your support
COAT REMINDER – Please remember as the weather is changing to make sure your child has a coat with them and that it is clearly labelled. It is much colder today and some children came in without coats on, and were complaining they were cold in the playground.
LOST PROPERTY
Please can all parents check their child’s clothes - All items should be clearly labelled and your child needs to ensure they can identify their own property. Staff are wasting too much time searching for children’s clothing and dealing with frustrated parents.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Dear Parents/Carers
Please ensure your child is bringing in a healthy snack each day. They should NOT have chocolate, cakes or crisps, although baked savoury snacks are acceptable.
We are a Healthy School and must ensure all children are following the guidelines. Snacks must also NOT contain nuts or any type of nutty spread like Nutella or praline etc. as we are a nut free school.
Thank you for your continued support with this matter.
We would like to remind all our families using breakfast club of the importance of booking in advance. We have noticed an increase of children not booking in advance and this effects our staffing ratio.
Breakfast club (£3 per session) runs from 7:30 until the start of school and includes a light breakfast and childcare.
We also run a tea club (£6 per session) from 3:15-5:30pm which includes a light tea and childcare - again all bookings must be booked and paid for in advance. Failure to pay will result in the child not being able to attend future sessions.
All bookings must be made at the beginning of each week so we can ensure we have enough staff available. Priority will be given to children who have booked in advance and those who have not booked may not be able to stay.
If you need assistance making a booking please email annemariedriscoll@sacredheart.southend.sch.uk
We would like to remind all our families that we are a nut free school to protect some of our pupils/staff and therefore request that no items of food containing nuts are brought in. We have noticed an increasing number of children bringing in snacks and spreads containing nuts ie cereal bars, chocolate spread etc. We hope you all understand the importance that some of our community have epi pens for their allergies and we need to ensure their safety at all times. Thank you for your co-operation.
