Dear God
Thank you for the wonderful objects you have given us.
Thank you for the opportunity to be a human, we pray that you would continue to bless each and every one of us.
God please enlighten our minds with truth and courage, and enrich our lives with service.
May today be filled with God's presence.

Welcome back after half term, I hope that you got to share some happy times together as a family. After the first week of the new half term, the holiday already seems like a memory away!
On Monday we will be sharing some time of reflection as part of Remembrance Day; this will be an opportunity to remember family who are no longer with us, as well as showing respect and gratitude for those who have lost their lives in conflict over the years. This is also one aspect of our focus on 'Love One Another Month,' when we give even greater priority to one of our core values.
Hopefully, your children will have talked about and recorded some of their 'random acts of kindness', something we are encouraging the children to focus on this month. If things are working as we might hope, you might have even been a beneficiary of the aim of taking words and prayers that we say in the classroom and assembly into actual action that can support and make others happy. Have you had a surprising hug, an 'I love you' or even some practical help around the home? If not yet, let's hope that you see some kind acts that, perhaps, you wouldn't usually see: even better, if such acts become part of the normal way of things.
As parents, carers and staff, we also need to be great role models for kindness, demonstrating to the children the way to be. Those who have read recent messages from me will know that I am particularly hoping that driving parents show respect and kindness to our near neighbours in adjoining houses and roads.
We have enjoyed a lovely class assembly from Year 5's St Max this week and many of our older children have been involved in football and netball matches against other schools in our Trust. I will recommend again our excellent Facebook page or Instagram account which is maintained by Mrs Crabb and gives a great insight into the very many things that are going on in the school.
One of our latest updates will show the brilliant new displays that have been put up around school. You should be able to see some of those next week when we look forward to seeing you for consultations with your child's teacher.
Wishing you a peaceful week, full of kindness.
Mr Beazeley

Our Amazon Wishlist is live!! The idea is that friends and family of the school can donate directly to the school library. We’ll still accept preloved copies from home that you may also wish to donate. The selection of books are chosen by the staff as texts that may benefit the pupil's reading comprehension, engagement with the curriculum and foster an interest in reading. The current list is reflective of this and will update as and when donations come through. The link to our Wishlist is here.
A big thank you to those that have bought books for the school, we truly appreciate it.
This week some pupils were taste testing different flavours of porridge including golden syrup and chocolate flavour.
We have had some new displays installed in school. A book montage of characters from children's literature outside the library and a history timeline in the junior building.
In our Love One Another month we have started with talking about kindness and how we can show this in our school. These ideas are all illustrated beautifully with our Hoops of Kindness in the hall.
St Max shared their class assembly today with their families and the school community. They gave the message of following the 10 commandments and the importance of rules and how they keep us safe.
In Year 1 this week we have had an exciting Geography lesson following directions inspired by the story of Rosie's Walk. The class created their own maps and guided each other around the classroom.
The boys football team and girls netball team competed in our yearly trust tournament and finished in a respectable 4th place each.
Snakes Alive came to visit Year 1. They learned about different reptiles and even got to hold them if they felt brave enough!
Here are our stars of the week who have represented our core values well through their actions of responsibility, achievement, compassion, equality, faith and respect.

The Christmas Fayre is planned for Friday 13th December 5.00pm-8.00pm
On Thursday 12th December we will be having a Bring A Bottle Day in return for your child coming to school in non-uniform. Bottles can be dropped off to the atrium in the morning. Please bring in full bottles of wine/beer/spirit/fizz/bubble bath/toiletries etc.
With over 450 pupils at the school we feel sure that there are plenty of parents who can offer to help on the day. Come along and make new friends as well as raising valuable funds for the school. Even if you can only spare one hour of your time it would be very much appreciated. We need helper’s to help set up and clear up, man the stalls, help with refreshments as well as donations of cakes nearer the time. Donations of raffle prizes will also be needed so please leave at the office.
If you are able to help in any way please leave your name at the school office, thank you.
COAT REMINDER – Please remember as the weather is changing to make sure your child has a coat with them and that it is clearly labelled. It is much colder today and some children came in without coats on, and were complaining they were cold in the playground.
LOST PROPERTY
Please can all parents check their child’s clothes - All items should be clearly labelled and your child needs to ensure they can identify their own property. Staff are wasting too much time searching for children’s clothing and dealing with frustrated parents.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Appeal for underwear
We would be very grateful for any donations of good quality girls/boys underwear to use as spares. Reception class are in particular need of spares along with socks but we also need larger sizes so if anyone is able to donate please drop them off to the office.
Thank you for your support
Dear Parents/Carers
Please ensure your child is bringing in a healthy snack each day. They should NOT have chocolate, cakes or crisps, although baked savoury snacks are acceptable.
We are a Healthy School and must ensure all children are following the guidelines. Snacks must also NOT contain nuts or any type of nutty spread like Nutella or praline etc. as we are a nut free school.
Thank you for your continued support with this matter.
We would like to remind all our families using breakfast club of the importance of booking in advance. We have noticed an increase of children not booking in advance and this effects our staffing ratio.
Breakfast club bookings also includes the tea club (£9 per session) - again all bookings must be booked and paid for in advance. Failure to pay will result in the child not being able to attend future sessions.
All bookings must be made at the beginning of each week so we can ensure we have enough staff available. Priority will be given to children who have booked in advance and those who have not booked may not be able to stay.
If you need assistance making a booking please email annemariedriscoll@sacredheart.southend.sch.uk
We would like to remind all our families that we are a nut free school to protect some of our pupils/staff and therefore request that no items of food containing nuts are brought in. We have noticed an increasing number of children bringing in snacks and spreads containing nuts ie cereal bars, chocolate spread etc. We hope you all understand the importance that some of our community have epi pens for their allergies and we need to ensure their safety at all times. Thank you for your co-operation.
Parentkind – the charity that supports school PTAs - have teamed up with Asda, who are making millions of pounds available to donate to primary schools across the UK through their ‘Cashpot for Schools’ initiative – all you have to do is, opt in through the Asda Rewards app, choose our primary school and shop and scan in store or shop online at Asda.com, between 2nd September and 30th November 2024
