Loving Father,
Thank you for all who are part of our school. Please grant them your encouragement, wisdom and peace.
We ask you to strengthen teachers in the coming weeks and help them to continue to support students throughout our school.
Comfort and restore those who are unhappy and show them your peace and love.
May many find faith discovering their identity in You and knowing Your amazing grace in their lives.
Please pour out Your blessings upon our whole school community.
Through Christ our Lord
Amen
St Joseph Class
Congratulations to more of our sports stars who have been excelling again this week; this time it's been the turn for our younger children in Key Stage 1. Next week, we look forward to our sports mornings, held on our playground space which limits what we are able to do. In spite of that, without the same space to practice, our athletes have been performing admirably in competition against other schools.
Year 6 are having a break from rehearsals today as most are visiting their new schools for September. It's both an exciting and, for some, anxious time as they begin to make a change into the unknown. I imagine that some of us more than others remember the mixed feelings associated with 'growing up' and taking the first steps in the next stage of our education. New experiences and friendships lie ahead, with the comfort and familiarity of Sacred Heart soon to be left behind. However, we look forward to welcoming them back next week as they round off their primary years in fine style.
Our other pupils have also been having a taste of change and 'moving on' today. From our new Reception pupils to our soon-to-be oldest in Year 5, we have been meeting new teachers and getting used to our new classes in new classrooms. Added to that, there are new Saints names for Year groups to get used to. Hopefully, the new classes will be an exciting change for the children, with the comfort that they will still be seeing plenty of their current classmates during lesson breaks and at other times.
A number of our teachers are also getting used to the idea of a change in Year groups and so we pray that both children and adults are guided and supported by the love of God and His Sacred Heart at this time.

Here is our new Summer Term dinner menu, which is now in effect.
We have not made changes to our chargeable fees for some time at Sacred Heart, and we have even subsidised some charges for out of school clubs. However as everyone is aware costs have increased in recent years across the board.
Therefore, from September 2025 the following new charges will apply:
In line with other schools we will be introducing a new policy where by any children not collected from school by 3.30pm will be placed in our after school tea club and a £6 fee will be applied to your School Money account.
We have seen an increase in the number of children not collected on time and we hope the new charges will ensure children are collected promptly.
Our Amazon Wishlist is live!! The idea is that friends and family of the school can donate directly to the school library. We’ll still accept preloved copies from home that you may also wish to donate. The selection of books are chosen by the staff as texts that may benefit the pupil's reading comprehension, engagement with the curriculum and foster an interest in reading. The current list is reflective of this and will update as and when donations come through. The link to our Wishlist is here.
A big thank you to those that have bought books for the school, we truly appreciate it.
Year 3 beach trip - They enjoyed time at the beach creating shelters and art work. They then cooled off in the park with an ice lolly.
KS1 Catholic Sports, some wonderful performances at the catholic sports morning, everyone tried their best and were great supporters of all.
Our students participated in the KS1 Borough Sport on a very warm day and were superstars and came away as the winners. Well done to each and everyone that participated and the staff that supported them.
Year 5 were Police Officers in their English lesson! They looked at a range of evidence to decide on the crime that may have been committed.
Year 1 went to the seafront to look at historic buildings and then to the park to look at plants and insects.
The school received a message from the Mayor of Southend
OUTSTANDING MONEY
Just a remind to all our families to ensure that all outstanding monies are paid for by the end of this school term. Please log onto your School Money accounts to check for outstanding balances and ensure any outstanding clubs, trips, dinners are settled.
If you have any questions regarding this please email annemariedriscoll@sacredheart.southend.sch.uk
PUPIL ABSENCE
When a child is off sick, a phone call must be made daily to record their absence. For sickness and diarrhea, the school has a 48 hours policy from the last episode before a child can return to school.
Any medical appointments need proof of the appointment for our records.
For any other absences a leave of absence form must be completed which can be obtained from the office.
SPARE SWIMMING KITS
We urgently need spare boys swimming trunks aged 10 and above for swimming lessons plus spare towels. If anyone has anything they could donate to the school we would be most grateful.
We are also short on spare underwear for older children. Any donations can be brought to the office. Thank you for your support
SUMMER WEATHER –
Please remember as the weather is getting warmer to make sure your child has a hat and sun cream with them. Thank you
LOST PROPERTY
Please can all parents check their child’s clothes - All items should be clearly labelled and your child needs to ensure they can identify their own property. Staff are wasting too much time searching for children’s clothing and dealing with frustrated parents.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Dear Parents/Carers
Please ensure your child is bringing in a healthy snack each day. They should NOT have chocolate, cakes or crisps, although baked savoury snacks are acceptable.
We are a Healthy School and must ensure all children are following the guidelines. Snacks must also NOT contain nuts or any type of nutty spread like Nutella or praline etc. as we are a nut free school.
Thank you for your continued support with this matter.
We would like to remind all our families using breakfast club of the importance of booking in advance. We have noticed an increase of children not booking in advance and this effects our staffing ratio.
Breakfast club (£3 per session) runs from 7:30 until the start of school and includes a light breakfast and childcare.
We also run a tea club (£6 per session) from 3:15-5:30pm which includes a light tea and childcare - again all bookings must be booked and paid for in advance. Failure to pay will result in the child not being able to attend future sessions.
All bookings must be made at the beginning of each week so we can ensure we have enough staff available. Priority will be given to children who have booked in advance and those who have not booked may not be able to stay.
If you need assistance making a booking please email annemariedriscoll@sacredheart.southend.sch.uk
We would like to remind all our families that we are a nut free school to protect some of our pupils/staff and therefore request that no items of food containing nuts are brought in. We have noticed an increasing number of children bringing in snacks and spreads containing nuts ie cereal bars, chocolate spread etc. We hope you all understand the importance that some of our community have epi pens for their allergies and we need to ensure their safety at all times. Thank you for your co-operation.

Dear Parents/carers,
Thank you so much for attending the Spring ISP meetings with your child's class teachers. Your involvement and partnership in your child's education is deeply appreciated. If you haven't yet had the opportunity to book a meeting, it's not too late! We encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher to discuss the targets they will be working on next term. This is a wonderful way to support your child's learning and progress.
As a polite reminder, we have created a Learning Plan tailored to your child's needs and would greatly value your input. You can view and comment on the plan by visiting the following link: https://edukeyapp.com/parent/login. To access the plan, please use the code provided by your class teacher or contact our school SENCO, Mrs. White, for assistance in accessing it online.
Your feedback is important to us, and we look forward to your contributions, as we continue to work together to support your child's development.
