Dear Lord,
I come to you. Keep us safe, we belong to you. Everyone has a purpose, everyone has their ups and downs; you are there for us all.
Father, we pray for our friends and for everyone who is going through difficult times in their life. Help us to be more like the disciples. Just as they were part of your family, please welcome everyone and anyone like you welcomed them.
Keep us all strong together.
Amen
Chanel, Mary, Mother of God, Year 6
As we reach the end of the school year, it is a time to look back and give thanks for the memories and friendships nurtured, for the lessons learned and progress made. We pray that we are able to hold onto memories of this time as we get older, valuing the times with our current classes and teachers, and are given the strength to face the future with optimism.
This week, we have been recognising pupils who have stood out in each class during the year, exemplifying our core values of achievement, compassion, equality, faith, respect and responsibility. Those recognised have done particularly well to stand out when so many of our pupils in every class try hard to live out our values every day.
Year 6 are on their final countdown, following the end of year production of Annie with their own awards and Leavers' Mass this week. Along with the other children, they still have to come Monday's talent shows followed by final assemblies on Wednesday.
They will be joined in departing by Mrs Horton and Mrs Edmunds and we wish all of our leavers great success and great happiness in the future. As I have said before, they have all contributed hugely to the life and story of Sacred Heart and will forever be a part of our family. We hope to hear how everyone is getting on and look forward to welcoming you back from time to time.
A final thank you to you, the parents, for supporting your child's journey with us this year; to all of the staff who continue to work so hard for every child, with no exception; and to the children themselves for being shining lights of God's love.
We wish you a peaceful, relaxing, exciting and love-filled Summer holiday and we look forward to welcoming all back in September, hopefully refreshed and ready to start a new chapter.
God bless our leavers and you all.

Therefore, from September 2025 the following new charges will apply:
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the end of term, we wanted to send a reminder to all our families of the uniform requirements from September 2025. We would like to draw special attention to:
• Hair styles - must not be extreme
• Earrings - no earrings of any kind. If you wish to get your child's ears pierced, the must be done at the beginning of the holidays to allow sufficient time to heal before returning to school.
• Shoes - must be sensible and sturdy - no trainers
• Boots - only to be worn to and from school - need to change to shoes in school
Please read the attached document for full information on all uniform requirements.
There will be a PRE-LOVED UNIFORM EVENT at the beginning of September, so please look out for this.
We would also like to remind everyone that all items in school must be clearly labelled, and the school will not accept responsibility for lost items.
Please help us to be 'The smartest school in town' and support us in ensuring the children are wearing the correct uniform, are fully prepared and ready to learn.
Kind regards,
School Office.
In line with other schools we will be introducing a new policy where by any children not collected from school by 3.30pm will be placed in our after school tea club and a £6 fee will be applied to your School Money account.
We have seen an increase in the number of children not collected on time and we hope the new charges will ensure children are collected promptly.
Our Amazon Wishlist is live!! The idea is that friends and family of the school can donate directly to the school library. We’ll still accept preloved copies from home that you may also wish to donate. The selection of books are chosen by the staff as texts that may benefit the pupil's reading comprehension, engagement with the curriculum and foster an interest in reading. The current list is reflective of this and will update as and when donations come through. The link to our Wishlist is here.
A big thank you to those that have bought books for the school, we truly appreciate it.

OUTSTANDING MONEY
Just a remind to all our families to ensure that all outstanding monies are paid for by the end of this school term. Please log onto your School Money accounts to check for outstanding balances and ensure any outstanding clubs, trips, dinners are settled.
If you have any questions regarding this please email annemariedriscoll@sacredheart.southend.sch.uk
PUPIL ABSENCE
When a child is off sick, a phone call must be made daily to record their absence. For sickness and diarrhea, the school has a 48 hours policy from the last episode before a child can return to school.
Any medical appointments need proof of the appointment for our records.
For any other absences a leave of absence form must be completed which can be obtained from the office.
SPARE SWIMMING KITS
We urgently need spare boys swimming trunks aged 10 and above for swimming lessons plus spare towels. If anyone has anything they could donate to the school we would be most grateful.
We are also short on spare underwear for older children. Any donations can be brought to the office. Thank you for your support
SUMMER WEATHER –
Please remember as the weather is getting warmer to make sure your child has a hat and sun cream with them. Thank you
LOST PROPERTY
Please can all parents check their child’s clothes - All items should be clearly labelled and your child needs to ensure they can identify their own property. Staff are wasting too much time searching for children’s clothing and dealing with frustrated parents.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Dear Parents/Carers
Please ensure your child is bringing in a healthy snack each day. They should NOT have chocolate, cakes or crisps, although baked savoury snacks are acceptable.
We are a Healthy School and must ensure all children are following the guidelines. Snacks must also NOT contain nuts or any type of nutty spread like Nutella or praline etc. as we are a nut free school.
Thank you for your continued support with this matter.
We would like to remind all our families using breakfast club of the importance of booking in advance. We have noticed an increase of children not booking in advance and this effects our staffing ratio.
Breakfast club (£3 per session) runs from 7:30 until the start of school and includes a light breakfast and childcare.
We also run a tea club (£6 per session) from 3:15-5:30pm which includes a light tea and childcare - again all bookings must be booked and paid for in advance. Failure to pay will result in the child not being able to attend future sessions.
All bookings must be made at the beginning of each week so we can ensure we have enough staff available. Priority will be given to children who have booked in advance and those who have not booked may not be able to stay.
If you need assistance making a booking please email annemariedriscoll@sacredheart.southend.sch.uk
We would like to remind all our families that we are a nut free school to protect some of our pupils/staff and therefore request that no items of food containing nuts are brought in. We have noticed an increasing number of children bringing in snacks and spreads containing nuts ie cereal bars, chocolate spread etc. We hope you all understand the importance that some of our community have epi pens for their allergies and we need to ensure their safety at all times. Thank you for your co-operation.
