Dear God
Thank you for being there for me, once I am sad, hurt or lonely.
When I’m hurt, I know you will heal me.
When I’m lonely and struggling, I’ll turn to you.
Thank you for giving me strength when I’m weak.
I will always have unconditional love for you.
We give thanks to you. You are so good.
Amen
Wesley M, Mary Mother of God class
In our assembly earlier this week, we continued the theme of our Jubilee Year and how we need to act as the Pilgrims of Hope, being an example to others in our community who need good role models. At the same time, we can be ambassadors of the school, behaving respectfully and with care to our parents and others around us, wearing the red uniform with pride and enhancing the positive reputation that we already have, as we go to and from school.
I know that this is already how things are in most cases but the challenge for the children is to go further. Using the symbol of the open door in Rome, I encouraged the children to be an open door for others, welcoming the stranger, saying 'yes' to those in need. Say 'yes' to those who ask for help, say 'yes' to those who want to play, be proactive in reaching out to include people, without waiting for them to ask.
Following on from Mrs Crabb's Street School message last week, it is clear that some of our parents don't always set the best example for their children. This afternoon I met with a local neighbour who had a confrontation with a family of ours, over parking, which resulted in their teenage children writing abuse on his front door. This is one of a number of incidents that reinforce why we try to educate our children to be wonderful citizens, filled with love and respect. It also shows that we all probably have behaviours to repent and aspects of our personalities to improve during this Jubilee Year.
I hope that you all have a happy and peaceful weekend with your families
God Bless
Mr Beazeley

Our Amazon Wishlist is live!! The idea is that friends and family of the school can donate directly to the school library. We’ll still accept preloved copies from home that you may also wish to donate. The selection of books are chosen by the staff as texts that may benefit the pupil's reading comprehension, engagement with the curriculum and foster an interest in reading. The current list is reflective of this and will update as and when donations come through. The link to our Wishlist is here.
A big thank you to those that have bought books for the school, we truly appreciate it.
Here are our stars of the week who have represented our core values well through their actions of responsibility, achievement, compassion, equality, faith and respect
St Brigid Class shared their class assembly about the saint St Brigid and the many miracles she is believed to have performed. They also reminded us to be Pilgrims of Hope during this year of Jubilee.
St Clare's class shared with us the first miracle of Christ which was changing water into wine at the wedding in Cana during their class assembly.
Some Year 2 pupils have been cooking and tasting the flapjack with and without marshmallows, "the marshmallows are squashy" "it was crunchy and soft" "it tasted like honey"
Our Lady of Lourdes class and St Bernadette's class have been enjoying lots of science activities. They have been looking at baby photos and comparing to grown up photos, exploring the wonder of baby clothes and learning about our five senses. The class even made paper cup telephones to see how sound travels in waves. Our Lady of Lourdes got to try out the Now Press Play listening experience with their pink headphones and were whisked away to a pirate ship, to learn about number bonds - St Bernadette's will try this out next week. In RE, the classes have been learning about when Jesus shared good news with the teachers in the temple. We have shared our own good news experiences with each other. Both classes enjoyed taking part in the Jubilee launch mass in church today and sang with wonderful voices.
The Jubilee Year has started and we came together as a community to mark this start, and for all of us to be Pilgrim's of Hope.
SPARE SWIMMING KITS
We urgently need spare boys swimming trunks aged 10 and above for swimming lessons plus spare towels. If anyone has anything they could donate to the school we would be most grateful.
We are also short on spare underwear for older children. Any donations can be brought to the office. Thank you for your support
COAT REMINDER – Please remember as the weather is changing to make sure your child has a coat with them and that it is clearly labelled. It is much colder today and some children came in without coats on, and were complaining they were cold in the playground.
LOST PROPERTY
Please can all parents check their child’s clothes - All items should be clearly labelled and your child needs to ensure they can identify their own property. Staff are wasting too much time searching for children’s clothing and dealing with frustrated parents.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Dear Parents/Carers
Please ensure your child is bringing in a healthy snack each day. They should NOT have chocolate, cakes or crisps, although baked savoury snacks are acceptable.
We are a Healthy School and must ensure all children are following the guidelines. Snacks must also NOT contain nuts or any type of nutty spread like Nutella or praline etc. as we are a nut free school.
Thank you for your continued support with this matter.
We would like to remind all our families using breakfast club of the importance of booking in advance. We have noticed an increase of children not booking in advance and this effects our staffing ratio.
Breakfast club (£3 per session) runs from 7:30 until the start of school and includes a light breakfast and childcare.
We also run a tea club (£6 per session) from 3:15-5:30pm which includes a light tea and childcare - again all bookings must be booked and paid for in advance. Failure to pay will result in the child not being able to attend future sessions.
All bookings must be made at the beginning of each week so we can ensure we have enough staff available. Priority will be given to children who have booked in advance and those who have not booked may not be able to stay.
If you need assistance making a booking please email annemariedriscoll@sacredheart.southend.sch.uk
We would like to remind all our families that we are a nut free school to protect some of our pupils/staff and therefore request that no items of food containing nuts are brought in. We have noticed an increasing number of children bringing in snacks and spreads containing nuts ie cereal bars, chocolate spread etc. We hope you all understand the importance that some of our community have epi pens for their allergies and we need to ensure their safety at all times. Thank you for your co-operation.
