Dear God,
We come as a family to thank you for everything you have done for us.
We know your house will always be our home.
Thank you for having unconditional love for us.
We always appreciate you being by our side every time we need to turn to you, and protecting us from harm and giving us strength.
We give thanks to you, you are so good!
Amen

Unfortunately, I have been out of school for the last couple of days with illness. I'm actually very fortunate that my health is good and that I haven't needed to see a doctor for a number of years; I can't remember when I last did. I know that many of you will have had trouble trying to see a doctor for other reasons!
This is a good reminder to me to be grateful for what I have, not take things for granted and enjoy the every day things that I don't always appreciate.
As a result of my absence, I missed the Reconciliation service for Key Stage 2, as part of our Lentern season. At our Trust Headteacher's meeting yesterday - I could join online - we dicussed plans for a joint Jubilee Walk along the seafront in May. We will be inviting some of our children along, joining with other Catholic schools, to make our way from Shoebury Common Beach towards the pier.
Earlier in the week, a number of our runners competed in the Trust's 'Hot Cross Run' at St Thomas More. The day after, Year 2 enjoyed a trip to Colchester Zoo and we would like to thank parents who came along for their support with this.
I hope that Mothers Day brings the recognition that it should this weekend and, like my relationship with health and illness, that we all remember to be thankful for our mums and never take their presence and support for granted.
God Bless and stay healthy
Mr Beazeley

In line with other schools we will be introducing a new policy where by any children not collected from school by 3.30pm will be placed in our after school tea club and a £6 fee will be applied to your School Money account.
We have seen an increase in the number of children not collected on time and we hope the new charges will ensure children are collected promptly.
We would like to remind all our families that we are a nut free school to protect some of our pupils and staff who are allergic, and therefore request that no items of food containing nuts are brought in. We have noticed an increasing number of children bringing in snacks and spreads containing nuts ie cereal bars, chocolate spread etc. We hope you all understand the importance that some of our community have epi-pens for their allergies and we need to ensure their safety at all times. Thank you for your co-operation.
Our staff received training on Asthma recently. A slideshow showing the main points for parents is available on our website here
Our Amazon Wishlist is live!! The idea is that friends and family of the school can donate directly to the school library. We’ll still accept preloved copies from home that you may also wish to donate. The selection of books are chosen by the staff as texts that may benefit the pupil's reading comprehension, engagement with the curriculum and foster an interest in reading. The current list is reflective of this and will update as and when donations come through. The link to our Wishlist is here.
A big thank you to those that have bought books for the school, we truly appreciate it.
Here are our stars of the week who have represented our core values well through their actions of responsibility, achievement, compassion, equality, faith and respect
St Padre Pio shared their class assembly about how the blind man could see again after he met Jesus from John's Gospel. It teaches us to have faith even when we are unsure and understand what to do. The pupils performed the Bible story with great compassion.
Our penguin, for Waddle-on-Sea, is slowly starting to reflect the winning design from a year 6 pupil.
The netball team played fantastically and won all their games in the final round of league games. Great team work and sportsmanship demonstrated by all.
Caterpillar & Tadpole Update - Year 5 have been eagerly watching and waiting for changes. They are enjoying observing how these creatures are growing and changing.
Year 2 at Colchester Zoo - lots of fun was had by all!
Our Y6 girls football team continue to impress! During a recent league game they won an impressive 7-0. Amazing!
And last Friday our science ambassadors visited St Thomas More High school and took part in a variety of experiments in the science labs with one of the Science teachers. A great way to finish off our Science week.
Get ready to sharpen your skills because our school is participating in an epic TTRS Battle within our school trust! 🏆✨ It’s a thrilling online competition where students from across the trust will compete to become the top school and show off their amazing times tables skills.
Who will come out on top and claim the crown? 👑 Let’s show them what we’re made of!
PUPIL ABSENCE
When a child is off sick, a phone call must be made daily to record their absence. For sickness and diarrhea, the school has a 48 hours policy from the last episode before a child can return to school.
Any medical appointments need proof of the appointment for our records.
For any other absences a leave of absence form must be completed which can be obtained from the office.
SPARE SWIMMING KITS
We urgently need spare boys swimming trunks aged 10 and above for swimming lessons plus spare towels. If anyone has anything they could donate to the school we would be most grateful.
We are also short on spare underwear for older children. Any donations can be brought to the office. Thank you for your support
COAT REMINDER – Please remember as the weather is changing to make sure your child has a coat with them and that it is clearly labelled. It is much colder today and some children came in without coats on, and were complaining they were cold in the playground.
LOST PROPERTY
Please can all parents check their child’s clothes - All items should be clearly labelled and your child needs to ensure they can identify their own property. Staff are wasting too much time searching for children’s clothing and dealing with frustrated parents.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Dear Parents/Carers
Please ensure your child is bringing in a healthy snack each day. They should NOT have chocolate, cakes or crisps, although baked savoury snacks are acceptable.
We are a Healthy School and must ensure all children are following the guidelines. Snacks must also NOT contain nuts or any type of nutty spread like Nutella or praline etc. as we are a nut free school.
Thank you for your continued support with this matter.
We would like to remind all our families using breakfast club of the importance of booking in advance. We have noticed an increase of children not booking in advance and this effects our staffing ratio.
Breakfast club (£3 per session) runs from 7:30 until the start of school and includes a light breakfast and childcare.
We also run a tea club (£6 per session) from 3:15-5:30pm which includes a light tea and childcare - again all bookings must be booked and paid for in advance. Failure to pay will result in the child not being able to attend future sessions.
All bookings must be made at the beginning of each week so we can ensure we have enough staff available. Priority will be given to children who have booked in advance and those who have not booked may not be able to stay.
If you need assistance making a booking please email annemariedriscoll@sacredheart.southend.sch.uk

Dear Parents/carers,
Thank you so much for attending the Spring ISP meetings with your child's class teachers. Your involvement and partnership in your child's education is deeply appreciated. If you haven't yet had the opportunity to book a meeting, it's not too late! We encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher to discuss the targets they will be working on next term. This is a wonderful way to support your child's learning and progress.
As a polite reminder, we have created a Learning Plan tailored to your child's needs and would greatly value your input. You can view and comment on the plan by visiting the following link: https://edukeyapp.com/parent/login. To access the plan, please use the code provided by your class teacher or contact our school SENCO, Mrs. White, for assistance in accessing it online.
Your feedback is important to us, and we look forward to your contributions, as we continue to work together to support your child's development.
Warm regards, Mrs White (SENCO)

'Your Family' has recently expanded their support services and are now working with families until their child starts secondary school. They are predominately working in the Early Help space, but also deliver a number of targeted interventions, including 121 to parents who are in drug and/or alcohol recovery and are seeking to improve their relationship with their children (regardless of whether they live with them or not), support for fathers and wrap around education and support to expectant parents who have previously had a child removed.
They also deliver a 6-day a week Information and Guidance service for local parents (and professionals), which includes 4 later evenings, family stay and play session throughout the week and on Saturdays, and 121 parenting support.
