Zoomed and Cropped Shoe

3 'Zooms' of a shoe:

The subject of my creation is my shoe. I have taken a section of my pure contour shoe drawing and 'zoomed' in on it, creating a larger picture of that one section to scale. Next I did the same thing to that picture, and again to that one, making three consecutive 'zoomed in' drawings. The materials I used to create this were a 4H pencil, to mark the border and sketch the first lines of the shoe to get the proportions and scale right. Then I purified the lines with a dark 2B and 4B pencil. Some principles/techniques I used are balance to make sure the zoomed section of the shoe is proportionate and the lines are spaced to the same scale, leading lines to sketch out the shape of the shoe and then going over it with a darker pencil, and space because I looked at the negative space around the lines and shapes to help me understand what to draw. The meaning behind this artwork and how it relates to my life is that it is my shoe and it was fun to get closer and closer to my own shoe and draw what is really small on my shoe. Something I could have done better was make the lines thicker and darker so they stand out and look confident.

Decorated Zoomed Shoe:

The subject of this was one of my zoomed section of my shoe. It is right next to where the shoelace goes into the hole (the purple and blue part). The materials I used was a 4H pencil to sketch out the lines I was going to be decorating and sharpie markers. At first I started off by making condensed, tiny patterns, each one unique, throughout the sections of negative space. I realized this was going to take a lot more time than I thought and it didn't look the way I wanted it to so I decided to start over and make something along the same lines but easier to follow. I wanted to make a paisley pattern so I recreated the one on my sister's bedsheets. I used a dark color for the main pattern then the medium shade for the small leaf shapes and the lightest color for the dots. I think this creates emphasise on the main pattern while still filling the blank space in the back. I used the same pattern throughout the sections to create unity and pattern. The meaning behind this is I think it relates to nature because the pattern is organic and looks like leaves and the colors could be related to grass, water, and flowers. It relates to my life because I've always loves paisley patterns. To make it better I would make more dots in some of the sections and make them smaller.
