Self Portrait

The subject of my picture is myself on a beach. It is one of my senior pictures. To create this drawing, first I printed off my picture I wanted to use in black and white, then I gridded it using a 1 to 1 grid and then I followed my grid to make sure my picture was proportionate. I used charcoal for the dark background and black flowers on my shirt. I used a 2B pencil to draw myself and shade in my skin tone. I chose to draw this picture because I like it because it was on the beach during summer. I used contrast of the light and dark colors to show the shadows and values of the colors. To highlight, I left areas white. My picture evolved from being very lightly colored and not very realistically colored to pretty dark and fully shaded, and pretty realistic looking. To make it evolve I added layers of shading. This project related to my life because my friend Eva took it so it has good memories. Something I wish I did better was making it look more realistic.
