Mixed Media Art

The subject of my picture is a horse names Willy Wonka. To create this work I first printed out this picture in black and white. Next I gridded the picture to be a larger size on the paper. Then I started to sketch my horse grid by grid to make sure it was accurate . I chose to draw this picture because it was taken in Wyoming when I was on a NOLs trip and this was my horse. I used emphasise on the horse to show that the horse is the subject of my photo. I also used value to show the different shades in the picture. My picture evolved from being very lightly colored to very dark and confident. I added layers and pressed hard until you couldn't see the white underneath. This project related to my life because this NOLs trip was very impactful on me. Something I wish I did better was incorporate ink more.
