The subject of my picture is an open m&m bag with m&ms spilling out. To create this work I first sketched out the shape of the objects with a lights H pencil. Next I colored it in using colored pencils and a 2B pencil to shade the shadows. To shade the m&ms I pressed harder around the darker parts of the candy so it looks darker. For the bag I focused on adding highlights of the shiny plastic. I chose to draw m&ms because they are my favorite candy; I only like chocolate. I also thought it would be cool to make it look like the candies are spilling out like someone ripped it open and they spilled on the table. I used contrast of the light and dark colors to show the shadows and values of the colors. I used emphasise on the bag because it was colored very dark, and emphasise on the candies because they are brightly colored and draw attention. I also used value and color to show the different shades of the colors on the candies and bag. My picture evolved from being very lightly colored and not very realistically colored to pretty dark and fully colored, and pretty realistic looking. To make it evolve I added layers of color and pressed hard until you couldn't see the white underneath. This project related to my life because m&ms are my favorite candy and the only kind I like to eat. Something I wish I did better was make the M's on the m&m's more clear and I want to work on highlighting the m&ms and the bag.
