Certification

Inspired by STARFLEET Academy, the Science Department of the USS Dauntless offers courses and certification in subjects relevant specifically to life aboard ship. Whether it's a basic orientation for new recruits, or more complex protocols for handling administration.

These courses are available to all crew-members of the USS Dauntless free of charge. All of them are requirements for serving in some or other capacity on board, but you needn't be applying for that job yet in order to get certified.

Orientation Courses

Designed to bring crew-members up to speed with the day-to-day knowledge they'll need to serve aboard the USS Dauntless.

New Recruit Orientation

A basic introduction to the USS Dauntless covering the following topics:

Ranks and titles;
Departments and Duty Stations;
Uniforms;
Away Teams and Away Missions;
STARFLEET International and the Academy.

This course is mandatory for all crew-members. All new Recruits must complete this course in order to qualify for their first rank promotion.

The course is administered via private message by the Recruiting Officer.

Away Team Leaders Orientation

A more detailed introduction to the basics of serving as an Away Team Leader, including:

What Away Teams are;
How to run Away Missions;
Other duties of an Away Team Leader.

This course is not mandatory, but is strongly recommended for all current and aspiring Away Team Leaders.

The course is administered via private message by the Chief Operations Officer.

Security Orientation

This course is still under development.

Protocols

Specialised training for crew-members covering complicated actions to be performed by some volunteers.

Onboarding Protocol

The Onboarding Protocol is the procedure that Command personnel follow when someone asks to join the USS Dauntless. Sign-off for this protocol is a requirement for the following Duty Stations:

Commanding Officer
Executive Officer
Second Officer
Recruiting Officer

Any crew-member may seek this certification, but only the above-mentioned members have the necessary Security access to implement the protocol.

Tests not linked to educational materials that allow crew-members to be signed off for the following:

Physical Fitness Test

In order to promote physical fitness for both the health of the crew and improved mission-readiness, crew-members are encouraged to maintain a minimum level of physical fitness. This level is measured by using a standard test.

Correct and Accurate Uniform Certification

In order to ensure a professional consistency of uniforms aboard the Dauntless, you'll need to have your uniform inspected and certified.
