Engineering Department
The Engineering staff is responsible for maintaining the assets of the USS Dauntless. This includes online assets, like the website and email list, and equipment, like public address systems or projectors.
Below are the volunteer "Duty Station" positions that fall under the Engineering Department. Active members who don't wish to volunteer may request to be assigned to Engineering as a "Standard position" with no duties allocated.

Activities
The principle activities of the Engineering Department are, among other things:
Maintaining the assets of the USS Dauntless:
Websites (internal and external);
Discord server;
Digital and physical equipment (online tools, projectors etc).
Assisting other departments in building and managing tools and systems to support their functions.
Providing technical support to members of the Dauntless crew in using those tools.
Staying informed about technology news relevant to USS Dauntless operations.

The Chief Engineering Officer (CEO) is the Department Head for the Engineering Department of the USS Dauntless. The Department Head acts as a communication conduit between the Command Department and the Engineering Department.
The CEO is the primary administrator of this website.
This position may not be held by an Enlisted member.
Duties and Qualifications
Duties
Departmental Supervision: Maintaining open lines of communication with members of the Engineering Department. This requires attempting to have at least one communications exchange with each member of the Department per calendar month. This may be in the form of a face-to-face meeting, a telephone conversation, an Instant Message conversation, an email exchange or anything of a similar nature.
Reporting: Submitting Departmental Monthly Status Reports (DMSR) to the XO on or before the 3rd of each calendar month. This report must include information such as promotion nominations, award nominations, planned or past events when applicable, as well as the success or failure to contact members of the Department.
Logging: Write a regular column for the Crow's Nest and Dauntless website.
Asset Management:
Ensuring that the Dauntless website is operational and up-to-date;
Ensuring that the Discord server, with its various integrations, is operational and accessible;
Ensuring that the Google Workspace applications and repository are working optimally, coordinating with the Regional Engineering team as needed;
Assisting other Departments in building and managing tools and systems to aid their respective functions.
Technological Advisor: Remaining abreast of technology news that may be relevant to USS Dauntless operations, and keeping the Senior Staff informed.
Delegation: Performing any and all duties the Deputy Chief Engineering Officer is unable to perform.
Officer of the Watch: Monitor Dauntless communications channels during convenient hours and take swift action should any inappropriate content be posted or other issues arise.
Fleet Operations: Colaborating and coordinating with Engineering communities within Region 8 and STARFLEET International (STARFLEET Corps of Engineers).

Qualifications
In order to be considered, the applicant must already be an active participant in a bare minimum of 30% of all USS Dauntless activities measured over a 3-month time-frame. This must include online and in-person activities, as well as the monthly challenges. The applicant must also be an active user of Discord, Google Workspace, Google Sites and Trello.
Required in order to qualify for application for position
Grade O-2 (Lieutenant (Junior Grade)/Second Lieutenant) or higher.
Officers Training School (OTS, STARFLEET Academy)
STARFLEET Data Protection Policy (SFDPP 101 and 102, STARFLEET Academy)
Bridge Officer Certification - Chief Engineering Officer (STARFLEET Academy)
New Recruit Orientation course.
Active membership to STARFLEET in good standing.
Correct and accurate Standard Duty Uniform
Required within 6 months of appointment to position
PD-100 certification (STARFLEET Marine Corps Academy)
Privileges
Upon appointment, the Chief Engineering Officer is granted a conditional promotion to the grade of O-3 (Lieutenant/Marine Captain). After holding the position for 6 continuous months, the promotion becomes permanent.
The Deputy Chief Engineering Officer (DCEO) is the Deputy Department Head for the Engineering Department of the USS Dauntless. The Deputy Department Head acts as a reserve for the Department Head.
If held by an Enlisted member, use the title "Chief Engineering Non-Commissioned Officer" (CENCO).

Privileges
Deputy Chief Engineering Officer:
Upon appointment, the Deputy Chief Engineering Officer is granted a conditional promotion to the grade of O-3 (Lieutenant/Marine Captain). After holding the position for 6 continuous months, the promotion becomes permanent.
When the CEO position becomes vacant, the DCEO is automatically considered an applicant for the position, regardless of his/her qualifications.
Chief Engineering Non-Commissioned Officer:
Upon appointment, the Chief Engineering Non-Commissioned Officer is granted a conditional promotion to the grade of E-7 (Chief Petty Officer/Gunnery Sergeant). After holding the position for 6 continuous months, the promotion becomes permanent.
