UNIT 6: BIG PROJECT
THE LAST PROJECT IS A COMBINATION OF EVERYTHING YOU LEARNED
YOU MAY CHOOSE ANY MEDIUM (or a combination of mediums)... but you must consider our course essential question: "What design and technical considerations are necessary for successful work with clay, and other sculpting materials?"
YOU MUST ALSO CONSIDER OUR 2ND COURSE ESSENTIAL QUESTION: "To what extent does good design integrate form with function?" (YOUR DESIGN MUST MUST BE FUNCTIONAL AND DECORATIVE)
THE PLAN OF ACTION:
HERE ARE all of the skills and lessons that were covered for the entire semester:
SUBTRACTIVE CARVING
PLASTER
WHEEL-THROWING
WORKING WITH CLAY
FIGURATIVE SCULPTURE
WORKING WITH PLASTIC TAPE AND WRAP
MIXED MEDIA SCULPTURE
CONSIDERING ARTISTIC INTENTION IN CREATION
CONSIDERING RATIO AND PROPORTION
CONSIDERING CRAFTSMANSHIP AND TECHNIQUE
The BIG PROJECT and the parameters:

Students will create small machetes (if needed, depending on materials used) for their final project
Students will make their project
Students will share/present and critique the project–the last day of class so the seniors can participate.
Students will continue the critique, if more time is needed on the exam date.
