Famous Photographers Project
FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPHER UNIT Essential Question:
Who is a famous photographer and why are their photographs successful?
STEP ONE:
Choose a famous photographer from the LINK or LINK or LINK (or use the history of photography book in room 129)
When you find one that you are interested in-- look at their photographs. Would you be interested in re-creating images in their style? Would you be interested in learning more about that photographer?
If the answer is "YES!"-- then check the class list on the board-- if no one else has chosen that photographer, then you can choose it. (We do not want any repeats--we want to learn about lots of photographers!)
When you choose your photographer, write your name and the photographers name on the list.
STEP TWO:
Now that you have chosen your photographer.... start to set up your GOOGLE SITE for this project.
Your site will need to have the following items:
AT LEAST 4 amazing facts/stories about that photographer
AT LEAST 4 photographs that they took that you will not re-create
AT LEAST 4 photographs that they took that you WILL re-create
STEP THREE:
Get out your sketchbook, begin to think about how you will recreate your photographs
Draw a thumbnail sketch and label it.
When will you take your photograph?
Where will you take your photograph?
What will be the same?
What will be different?
Consider your positive space (foreground), consider your negative space (background)
Show the teacher your sketch, talk about it, trouble shoot if needed.
TAKE a photo of your sketch and upload it to the SKETCHBOOK ASSIGNMENT link.
STEP FOUR:
Take your photographs
Consider COMPOSITION
Consider LIGHT (and focus!)
Upload your images and share them with your teacher for feedback
STEP FIVE:
Complete your GOOGLE SITE for your project.
Make sure it has:
The name of your photographer
At least 4 interesting facts/stories/bio information about your photographer
At least 4 photographs that you will not be reproducing
FOUR PHOTOGRAPHS, side by side, original with reproduction with a GOOD DESCRIPTION of similarities and differences between the two
an excellent recap/reflection of what YOU LEARNED about LIGHT and COMPOSITION from looking at other photographers and then re-creating your own photographs.
STEP SIX (the last step!):
You will make a POSTER on photoshop to hang on the wall for FINE ARTS NIGHT.
Use the handout "how to make a poster" (it is in your packet and on schoology)
