An idiom is, "an expression in the usage of a language that is peculiar to itself either in having a meaning that cannot be derived from the conjoined meanings of its elements," according to the Merriam Webster dictionary. Growing up I used to hear my grandparents use phrases like this all the time, I always thought they were interesting. The little kid me loved the play on words. While trying to find a topic to investigate I decided that I wanted to find more idioms that revolve around the recurring theme of joy and happiness. I investigated how the literal definition of these sayings could be portrayed in a single photograph to get the point across to the viewer. Piece #1 is the idiom on cloud nine. Piece #2 is a twinkle in her eye. Piece #3 is tickled pink. Piece #4 is as happy as a camper. Piece #5 is music to her ears. Piece #6 is the idiom whatever floats your boat. Piece #7 is a ray of sunshine. Piece #8 is let your hair down. Piece #9 is the idiom on top of the world. Piece #10 is a redo of piece #1, on cloud nine.
