"Construction Management"
After a successful rollout as a BSBA concentration, Purdue Global’s Construction Management Concentration will be offered as a micro-credential beginning in March 2023.
In a true collaborative effort, Purdue Global Faculty worked closely with Purdue West Lafayette’s School of Construction Management to develop the Construction Management Concentration.
The purpose of the concentration is to provide students with critical knowledge, skills, and insight to pursue a career in the field of construction. More specifically, students may gain knowledge in critical domains of construction management including plan reading, construction project management, construction delivery methods and contracts, construction methods and materials, construction planning and scheduling, construction cost estimating, and new trends in the construction industry.
The faculty selected to instruct the courses in the Construction Management concentration and micro-credential have an academic background in Construction Management as well as significant practical experience in the field. Faculty of this caliber offer classes with real-life examples of how concepts taught are used in the field.
The Concentration/Micro-credential consists of five (5) courses running in C Track:
MT281 - Fundamentals of Construction Management
MT282 – Constructions Methods and Materials
MT381 – Construction Planning and Scheduling
MT382 – Construction Estimating
MT383 – Construction Law
Many have signed up for the courses down the road, but it is hoped that students decide to move up the courses in their schedules as they move through their degree programs. Others might not have considered these courses in the past, but now see them as an area of interest for future employment opportunities. In any event, we hope to see you soon in the Construction Management Concentration/Micro-Credential. For more information on the Construction Management Concentration/Micro-Credential contact Dr. Jack Deem (jdeem@purdueglobal.edu) or your Adviser.

School of Business and Information Technology Student Spotlight:
Joshua Holley
Joshua Holley’s passion in life is running. As a highly motivated, record-holding Special Olympics athlete and with help from his coach and fellow Purdue alumni Andy Hunnicut, he has competed in several marathons, and has been successful enough to qualify for the April 2022 Boston Marathon. One of Joshua’s lifelong dreams is to open his own business catering to those who share his passion for the sport. In order to set himself up for success as a future entrepreneur, he decided to go to school to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Business. Joshua chose Purdue University Global due to Purdue Global’s well-established reputation, and the ExcelTrack program which offers self-determined students a way to complete their degree on their own schedule and terms. During his time at Purdue Global, Joshua gained valuable information and experience in his classes, especially during his Capstone, where he was able to emulate creating a business with other students throughout the semester. He also noted a great appreciation for the help and encouragement he received from his advisor Cecilia Yoakum, one of his greatest advocates to graduate. Her support even extended to attending and supporting him at several of his marathons to meet him at the finish line. Through ExcelTrack, Joshua was able to complete his bachelor’s degree in less than one year. Since graduation, Joshua has been interviewed by WTHR, an Indianapolis news station about his achievements including his graduation and his upcoming marathon. Joshua is currently optimistic about his career/entrepreneurial journey thanks to his experience at Purdue Global. Joshua said this about his experience, “I believe my experience at Purdue Global helped me not only as a student but as a future professional, as it prepared me to deal with adversity, overcome challenges, and handle real-world, real-life problems.”

Who are they? SAS was once known as The Center for Disability Services (CDS). The department name was recently changed to Student Accessibility Services (SAS) to create a more inclusive environment that provides accessibility to all. Student Accessibility Services (SAS) at Purdue Global is the primary office responsible for the coordination of services for students with disabilities. Pursuant to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, Purdue Global will provide reasonable accommodations for students who have met the eligibility and verification requirements of SAS.
What do they do? SAS works directly with the student to provide accommodations that aid the student in being successful in their classes. SAS works as a liaison between the student and their instructors and notifies instructors of the student's approved accommodations each term. Students with temporary medical conditions can also request accommodations on a temporary basis.
How do you request an accommodation? Students with disabilities are responsible for requesting an accommodation. If you are a potential Purdue Global student, or already enrolled at Purdue Global, and are seeking accommodation(s) due to a diagnosed disability, you may request to be referred to Student Accessibility Services (SAS) through your university representative and/or contact SAS directly by telephone, or email. Actively enrolled students may also submit a self-referral to SAS through their student portal. SAS will then send an email to the student with information about requesting accommodations and will provide the required accommodation request forms attached to the email.
