Sports Entertainment-Super Bowl: Sport Sponsorships and Sales
Authors: Julie Dort & Mimi Gough
The Super Bowl is always one of the most highly anticipated sports events of the year and 2025 is no different. Whether it’s rooting for your favorite team, eagerly waiting to view the most creative commercial advertisements in TV history or getting a front row seat to a superstar half-time show, audiences all have their reason for watching this competition.
This year, the event is being held in New Orleans on February 9th so for anyone who didn’t get a ticket or book their full package, the dates are set for the next couple of years so they can start planning for Super Bowl LX at Levi's Stadium Santa Clara, CA scheduled for February 8, 2026 or Super Bowl LXI at Los Angeles, CA scheduled for February 14, 2027.
Speaking of tickets and packages, sales for this sports event generates extraordinary revenues with single tickets starting at $4,400.00, but if that price is a little steep, perhaps consider attending the opening night “sneak peek of the iconic Super Bowl imagery at Caesars Superdome prior to game day for an affordable $20.00” (NOLA Superbowl.com, n.d.). As of the writing of this article, game day packages were still available for $6,950.00 that include an official ticket and pre-game hospitality package, however transportation, lodging and meals are all extra (On Location, n.d.).
Another revenue-generating aspect of this event is sponsorships. According to Adweek, commercials cost $7 million for 30 seconds on Fox for this year’s game and some of the brands that have secured a spot include: Rocket Mortgage, Duracell, Booking.com, MSC Cruises, Pringles, DoorDash, Bosch, TurboTax and Taco Bell with many more on the list (Obrien, Notte, & Bradley, 2024.)
For anyone wondering what the average person spends planning to watch this event from home, last year it was $86.00 per person according to Statista.com (n.d.) of which about 80% was on food and beverages, while other spending included team apparel, decorations and TV related services or enhancements to their technology.
The final tally for the Super Bowl in 2024 for U.S. consumer spending was reported to be approximately 17.3 billion U.S.D, so it will be a bit longer to learn the total revenues for 2025 (Statista, n.d.). In the meantime, consider this quote which is not just meant for the two teams playing in this sporting event or for those trying to generate revenues from it, but for everyone pursuing their own goals, “concentrate on what will produce results rather than on the results, the process rather than the prize”, Bill Walsh, San Francisco 49ers Head Coach (Sports Feel Good Stories, 2020).

Tourism and Hospitality-National Travel and Tourism Week
National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) is an annual event that celebrates the importance of travel and tourism in the United States. Held every first full week of May, this observance highlights the significant economic, social, and cultural contributions that the travel and tourism industry make to communities across the country.
The travel industry is a powerful force that drives economic growth and fosters cultural exchange. During NTTW, destinations, businesses, and tourism professionals come together to share stories, promote travel, and engage with communities. It’s a week filled with events, from parades and festivals to educational workshops and networking opportunities. The travel and tourism industry are a major economic driver in the United States. It supports millions of jobs, generates significant tax revenue, and contributes to local economies. According to the U.S. Travel Association, the industry generated $2.6 trillion in economic output and supported 17 million American jobs in 2019 alone. NTTW shines a spotlight on these impressive figures, reminding policymakers and the public of the industry’s vital role (U.S. Travel Association, 2023).
Travel brings people together, fosters understanding, and strengthens communities. NTTW provides an opportunity to highlight how travel can bridge cultural gaps, support local businesses, and enhance quality of life. Whether it’s a family vacation, a solo adventure, or a business trip, travel experiences create lasting memories and build connections.
NTTW is also a time for advocacy. Industry leaders and professionals use this week to engage with legislators and promote policies that support travel and tourism. They emphasize the need for infrastructure improvements, sustainable practices, and investment in tourism promotion. Additionally, educational events during NTTW help raise awareness about the benefits of travel and the challenges the industry faces (U.S. Travel Association, 2023).
As we look to the future, the travel and tourism industry continues to evolve. Innovations in technology, sustainable travel practices, and a growing emphasis on local and authentic experiences are shaping the way we travel. NTTW encourages us to celebrate these advancements and consider how we can support the industry’s ongoing growth and success (U.S. Travel Association, 2023).
National Travel and Tourism Week is a celebration of the many ways travel enriches our lives. It’s a time to recognize the industry’s contributions, advocate for its future, and inspire a love for exploration. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or dreaming of your next getaway, NTTW invites you to celebrate the power of travel.

Sitting pretty in the middle of the Caribbean, the US Virgin Islands consist of three islands: the bustling island of St. Thomas, where you’ll find the capital city Charlotte Amalie; the easy-going St. John, where Virgin Islands National Park takes up much of the area; and the largest of the three, St. Croix, with plenty of spots for scuba diving and historical towns. Dreaming of all three? Ferries and island hoppers make visiting each island easy and accessible, and US citizens can visit without a passport.
