NEW Education Abroad opportunity - GB602: MBA Capstone-Global Option
Purdue Global MBA students now have a NEW option to participate in an Education Abroad opportunity!
Developing knowledge of international business strategy, building intercultural fluency, and interacting with other cultures are all vital skills that employers are looking for, and PG's Education Abroad offerings cover these areas and more.
GB602: MBA Capstone-Global Option is a new course that can be taken in place of the standard capstone course (GB601). GB602 is a globally-focused culmination of the MBA program, enabling you to demonstrate leadership competencies and apply your knowledge of business systems in international contexts. As part of this course, you will participate in either a virtual or in-person field experience, visiting an international location to interact with local business and social culture. Upon satisfactory completion of all coursework requirements, you will also be eligible to receive the AFS Global Competence Certificate (GCC), an internationally recognized mark of the ability to employ principles of intercultural awareness in professional and social settings.
MBA students who would like to delve deeper into the study of Global Business may instead enroll in the Global Business concentration. There are limited annual entry points into the concentration, with the next cohort beginning with GB525: Global Business Environment in October (2207E) or November (2208E). This cohort’s virtual or travel field experience will take place in April in Berlin during the final concentration course, GB528: Global Strategy (2302E).
Check out the Purdue Global Education Abroad Handbook for more details, including upcoming locations, dates, pricing, and policies. Contact Purdue Global Education Abroad with any questions about these opportunities.

Read more about Karin's Story
Prior to obtaining her masters, Karin Oceguera worked in an Accounting position for a for-profit company. Although she was successful and comfortable in this position she realized her career may have plateaued. She decided a masters degree would be a great way to advance her value and career opportunities. Karin chose an online program due to the flexibility that it gave her as a parent of 5, who often traveled internationally.
Karin initially valued PG’s name recognition, but she found more value from her academic experience. She found that her Master of Science in Accounting program was structured enough to prepare her for each coming unit, yet it still allowed flexibility in discussion. With her masters in accounting and emphasis in finance, auditing, and forensic accountancy, she was able to obtain a position as a CFO for a for-profit company, rescue this company from bankruptcy - then pursue her true passion to make a difference by leading a non-profit organization specializing in family education and support services.
She still utilizes resources that she found during her program at Purdue University Global, mentioning that she even recently utilized a supplementary textbook from Adu Boateng’s class in Fraud Examination in a training class. Karin gave this quote about her educational experience at PG, “This is real world education. It’s not just a college to attend to get a piece of paper.'. Purdue gives you real life experience that will actually help you. It’s something you will use and reference back to. It helps with real life skills such as communication and professionalism, which are skills that you don’t get from a book.”
