THE GREAT COMMISSION
"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:
and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
Matthew 28:18-20
Differences between The Great Commandment and The Great Commission
The Great Commandment fuels the Great Commission.
Loving God drives us to obey Him—and He commands us to go and make disciples.
Loving our neighbor moves us to share the hope of Christ with them.
The Great Commission fulfills the Great Commandment.
When we make disciples, we’re showing love by leading people into a relationship with the God who loves them.
Teaching others to follow Jesus is one of the most tangible ways to love them.
The Great Commandment tells us why we live and act.
The Great Commission tells us what we are to do and how to live out that love in the world.
They are like two sides of the same coin—you can’t fully live one without the other.
Jesus said to them,
“The harvest truly is great,
but the laborers are few;
therefore pray the Lord of the harvest
to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Luke 10:2
“And heal the sick there,
and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God is at hand.’
He who hears you hears Me,
he who rejects you rejects Me,
and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.”
Luke 10:9, 16

Walking with Christ ~ The Great Commission
Think about what moved you in this section. Or perhaps something you learned or want to know more about. What are some practical things you can ask God for in your prayers to Him?
Possible things to pray for (in case you need ideas!).
- Guidance on what to pray for
- Wisdom to ask God to take gentle care of me, as he will do nothing unless we ask
Note of caution: don’t pray for these opportunities all at once. Going slow is recommended, especially if you are healing from a hurt. In this case, ask God to take it slow with the opportunities, so you can ramp up to the one he created you to be, in such a time as this.
