Teacher/Staff Bios

Mr. Christian Garcia is a Licensed Master Social Worker with 7 years of experience who works with the general education student population. He has a Master’s degree in Social Work from Walden University and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Eastern New Mexico University. Mr. Garcia has been a social worker with PMSD since March of 2023. He also works at Portales Junior High School in the same capacity. As a school social worker, Mr. Garcia is responsible for supporting general education students and advocating for their emotional and mental wellbeing. He helps students learn social skills, as well as strategies and coping skills to aid with conflict resolution and anger management. In addition, he aids students to achieve academically by intervening with students to help them communicate effectively with teachers and staff. Mr. Garcia is available to all general education students as a resource to help them succeed throughout their educational journey.
