Teacher/Staff Bios

Jayne Combs has been teaching off and on since 1981. She received her Bachelor’s in University Studies and her Masters in Secondary Education from ENMU. She is certified K-12 in Language Arts, Science,  Psychology, TESOL, Bilingual Education and Modern and Classical Languages. Mrs. Combs began her career as a 7th grade Language Arts teacher in Amarillo, Texas where she coached volleyball, basketball, and track. She has taught in the Portales School District for more than 20 years beginning her career at Valencia in 5th grade bilingual education. She then moved to the Junior High where she taught 7th grade Literature and Current Events. After a four year break where she taught at the Baptist Children's Home, she returned to PMSD to teach 2nd grade Dual Language at James. She then moved back to Valencia where she taught 3rd grade. When the opportunity arose for her to teach English and Spanish Language Arts at the High School, she jumped at the opportunity. She has now come full circle and is teaching 5th grade Dual Language at Lindsey Steiner.
