Studying History informs you about the present and future whilst also being fascinating. In Year 7 History, you get to learn about British History all the way from prehistoric cave drawings through to William the Conqueror, Henry VIII and Queen Victoria. You also get to learn about different cultures and how our history has shaped other countries through the British Empire, and then going further afield with studies into the Aztec Empire, the Mughal Empire and the Qing Dynasty. In Year 8, your History becomes more modern with 20th Century events such as World War 1 and World War 2 as well as American History.
We love to have fun in History and finding out about different people’s lives; living in different places at different times is brilliant. You will learn about how both these differences and similarities has shaped our culture today, whilst also looking at the weird and wonderful including disease, wars, toilets, kings and queens. You will complete your own investigations, solve historical crimes, create characters and hear real life stories from times we study and be on your way to becoming a real historian.
In History we love to explore our past outside of the classroom. We have done this using the Studio and Historical Cinema nights, watching great films portraying Historical events and figures.
We have also run Trips to enrich our student’s understanding of History. This has ranged from the Imperial War Museum and the WW1 Battlefields in Key Stage Three as well as trips to Rome, Berlin Washington and New York in GCSE.
