7.B- Use technology to design and implement a variety of formative and summative assessments that accommodate learner needs, provide timely feedback to students and inform instruction.
Reflection
Through my course work in LLT 555: Building Effective Online and Classroom Instruction, I was able to create formative and summative assessments. The formative and summative assessments that I created align with the standards that I have implemented throughout my course. The assessments are used to obtain the knowledge that my students have learned about being a writer. The different types of assessments varied throughout my course based on the lessons that were taught and the goals I wanted my students to meet.
Some of the forms of assessment that I used were discussion forums, quizzes, and assignments. The discussion forum allowed for students to share their sentences with the other students in the class and communicate with the other students as well, by stating what they liked about a classmates sentence(s). Within the D2L platform, I was able to create a quiz to assess the students’ knowledge of sentences. This quiz was able to provide immediate feedback for the students and even provided them with an explanation if their answer was incorrect. I would also able to provide feedback to each student in a timely manner after each assignment was turned in. It is important for students receive feedback in order to improve on their work in the future. I will strive to provide feedback for my student during online and in-person classes that I teach in the future.
