6.D- Model and nurture creativity and creative expression to communicate ideas, knowledge or connections.
Reflection
In the course LLT 521: Technologies for the 21st Century Learner, I created a digital story. I chose to create my digital story about “Important Places”, which goes along with one of the social studies units that I teach to my first grade students. The digital story was created through PowerPoint and it included audio recordings narrating the story. I created this digital story to show to my students at the end of our Important Places Unit. It shows how everything that we learned through out the unit comes together. The story gives my students an overview of the main ideas behind what we learned in a creative way.
I chose this artifact for substandard 6d because it allows for my students to learn about important places through a creative digital story. The use of PowerPoint to make a digital story has allowed me to communicate knowledge to my students using my creativity. When completing this project, it was the first time that I used PowerPoint to this capacity. I have used it for the basic slideshow presentations but never to create a digital story. I learned so much from this project that I plan to use in my classroom with my students. I have already begun using some of the features that PowerPoint has to offer when creating lessons for my students during virtual learning. I have begun to include audio and video recordings right onto my slides along with making the slideshows into videos for my student. I look forward to creating more digital stories with my students in the future to help show each student’s creative expression.
