Reflection
In LLT 565: Emerging Technology for Educators, we learned about technology tools and how these tools can enhance our lessons. I created a lesson using a technology tool called Kahoot!. Kahoot! is one of my favorite apps to use with my first grade students. It is very user friendly for first grade students to navigate. Kahoot! is a game-based learning platform that allows users to create multiple choice questions to assess student learning. Kahoot can be used for education purposes or for fun, such as creating trivia questions.
I created a Kahoot that I could use at the conclusion my first grade science unit on lights and shadows. Prior to completing this Kahoot with the class, the students will have to complete experiments and learn all about lights and shadows. When students have finished this unit, I will play the Kahoot quiz with them to assess what they have learned throughout the unit. In first grade at my school, we do not give formal test and quizzes for science. This is a great way for me to assess if the students have learned the information taught to them.
This was my first experience creating my own Kahoot for my class to use. I have used Kahoot before, but there are so many amazing Kahoots available to use that I never took that time to actually create one of my own. The process was really easy to do. I was able to type in the questions that I had prepared and provide multiple-choice answers for the students to pick from. It was an overall great experience creating a Kahoot and since this assignment, I have created some more Kahoots that I use in my classroom on a regular basis.
