PSU Support Resources
Disability Resource Center (DRC)
URISE is committed to supporting the needs of students with disabilities by collaborating with the Disability Resource Center (DRC).
Trainees with any type of disability are encouraged to request reasonable accommodations from the DRC for any EXITO program experience for which full participation is substantially limited by physical or mental impairment. Such experiences include:
Summer Induction + Immersion
Enrichment
RLC work during Academic Year
Trainees should notify URISE staff or faculty of the URISE program experience(s) for which reasonable accommodation is needed, and then contact the DRC to submit the request(s) for reasonable accommodation.
This must be done at least 6 weeks prior to the start of the program experience (if possible). If Trainees are unsure of who to contact, please email URISE at urise@pdx.edu.
Learning Center
URISE encourages Trainees to pursue academic coaching through PSU's Learning Center. The Learning Center offers tutoring, academic coaching, testing services, and college success courses.
Tutoring is available six days per week. Trainees can sign up here to request tutoring. Tutoring is available in a variety of subjects.
Academic coaching is available five days per week. Trainees can work with coaches to create measurable plans to meet their academic goals. Goals may address school/life balance, active learning and studying strategies, organization, communication skills, how to access resources, and more. Coaches can also serve as an accountability partner for students throughout their studies. Visit the Academic Coaching page of PSU's website to learn more about academic coaching, find a coach, and start your coaching journey.
