The Year 10 ASDAN group visited Thrales Farm last week. They spent a morning learning about the history of the farm, being shown around, learning what is grown on it and what happens to the wheat, oats and barley when it is harvested. The group ground their own flour ready for baking. They were also shown various pieces of farm equipment, including how much cost was involved, and learnt about different roles on the farm.
Ian, the owner, explained how he has had to diversify what he does with the land in order to make the farm viable. A very productive and informative morning which will go towards them achieving one of the challenges in the ASDAN course.
