Five Year 9 student have been designing, building and programming a robot to compete in the MBDA Robot Rumble competition.
The students worked hard after school and during lunch times to build their entry which competed amongst eleven other Hertfordshire schools.
The OSA robot won 7 out of 10 qualifying matches with the third highest points score going into the knockout rounds.
There was high demand from the other 11 teams to form an alliance with OSA going into the knockout rounds.
OSA won the quarter final match and made it into the Semi's.
They battled hard to win points and used strategy throughout to outsmart their opponents. As the match drew to a close it was clear that a winner would be difficult to deduce. The head referee had to consult the 200 page rule book in a tense few minutes and found that the OSA goal that we used to score points was less than 2 mm into the opponents part of the arena, meaning sadly, OSA were knocked out in the Semi's
The students conducted themselves fantastically, with strong teamwork and maturity throughout.
The final was held on Saturday 18th May at MBDA Stevenage.
