Earlier this term, our Year 8 students thoroughly enjoyed a workshop arranged by our Design Technology teacher - Mr Hajilambi. The annual STEM Faraday Challenge Day, run by the Institute of Engineering and Technology, is an exciting and highly interactive program of activities.
Students became real-life engineers for a day! They research, design and build solutions to real engineering problems as part of the event. Six teams of six students, compete against one another to see who can design, create and promote the best solution to a given challenge. All challenges are genuine, real-life engineering problems. The day will enable students to understand a variety of design, science and engineering principles and also encourage teamwork, leadership and problem-solving skills. The event aims to inspire and excite students' interest in STEM and to demonstrate the practical application of mathematics and engineering.
Congratulations to our winning team! It was fantastic to see the passion and determination in our students as they worked hard to design the perfect solutions. We look forward to hosting the event again next year.
