Our visit to Cambridge included many eye opening opportunities and insight into what to look for in the future when finding our future Universities and courses. On the 23rd of January nine Year 10 students including myself attended Cambridge University Gonville and Caius.
We went into a lecture room where an admissions officer took us through the many Universities and opportunities we have in the future, helping us find what to look for to get into the suited university for us. We were shown the courses and timetables of what a normal week would look like at Gonville and Caius. Shortly after this we had the opportunity to talk to undergraduates where we could ask questions and also be informed about how they got in and what courses they are taking. This was a very useful part of the day where me and the other pupils could get a better understanding of what to expect as a new undergraduate at such a prestigious university.
After this we then went on a tour around Gonville and Caius. We had the opportunity to see Stephen Hawking's office and many more interesting aspects this university had to offer. As the day continued we were able to go to the Whipple Museum History of Science which is a museum attached to the University of Cambridge which houses an extensive collection of scientific instruments, apparatus, models, pictures, prints, photographs, books and other material related to the history of science. This was an interesting experience being able to view medicine through time and up to a 400 year old book about sciences of the human body.
Visiting Cambridges Gonville and Caius was a great experience and was a very exclusive look into the upcoming future for us as Year 10 students preparing for University.
