Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge requires Kickstart 1.2 or 1.3 and at least 1MB of total memory - either 1MB Chip or 512K Chip + 512K Slow.
It does not seem to like just exactly 1.5MB Chip ram on (without any Slow ram).
The ADF file used for this test is:
Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge (1990)(Gremlin)[cr Angels].adf
Testing is carried out in emulation using WinUAE.
The game boots, but there are graphics corruption, probably due to not enough memory.
The game loads normally, without any graphics corruption.
Without using a degrader, booting normally, it gets stuck at a black screen.
Using the Early Boot Menu (hold down both mouse buttons during boot) to set Chip Type to Original and to enable Disable CPU Caches, it still gets stuck at a black screen.
Using Relokick 1.4a, it also gets stuck at a black screen (alternating between track 51 and 52).
Note: Relokick 1.4a will degrade the kicked A1200 memory to:
If you only have 2M Chip ram -> 1.5MB Chip Ram
If you have 2MB Chip and 4MB Fast (or more) -> 2MB Chip Ram:
Using TUDE with 'KICKSTART1.3' option:
tude KICKSTART1.3
Note: The Kickstart 1.3 ROM file must exist at:
devs:kickstarts\kick34005.A500
The game was able to start properly without any graphics corruption.
Note: Using TUDE with just the 'KICKSTART1.3' option degrades the Kickstart memory to 1.68MB Chip! But this still seems to work!
