A500 Motherboard Revisions

Motherboard Revision Identification

The best way to identify an A500 motherboard revision is to open it up and look on the motherboard itself.

However, if you cannot open up the A500 case for whatever reason, there is another way to identify the motherboard revision. You can open up the left hand edge connector port and look at the first 7 pins. Each motherboard revision has a slightly different layout for these pin.

The pictures below will help you look for these distinguishing features.

A500 Rev 3 (Type 1)

Pins 1 and 3 are connected together, with a VIA next to them for each one.

Pin 5 has a TRACE connected to it.

Pin 7, 9 and 11 do not have anything next to them.

Pin 13 has a VIA next to it.

A500 Rev 5

Pins 1 and 3 are connected together, with a VIA next to them for each one.

Pin 5 has a VIA connected to it.

Pin 7, 9 and 11 do not have anything next to them.

Pin 13 has a TRACE connected to it.

A500 Rev 6A

Pin 1 and 3 are separate and do not have anything next to them.

Pin 5 has a VIA next to it.

Pin 7 has JP6 text next to it.

Pin 9 and 11 has the pads for Jumper JP6 next to them.

Pin 13 has nothing next to it.

A500 Rev 8A

Pin 1 and 3 are separate and do not have anything next to them.

Pin 5 has a VIA next to it.

Pin 7 has E702 text next to it.

Pin 9 has E703 text next to it.

Pin 11 has a VIA next to it.

Pin 13 has E704 text next to it.
